Description

8-Groove Mixed-Angle Multi-V Press Brake Lower Die

This multi-V press brake lower die integrates eight independent working V-grooves into a 160 × 160 mm tooling body.

The illustrated configuration provides eight different V-opening sizes:

V8 · V12 · V16 · V24 · V48 · V60 · V80 · V100

Each physical working groove uses a different V-opening size, providing multiple forming ranges within one lower tooling body.

A defining feature of this product is its mixed-angle groove configuration.

The drawing identifies:

V48 – 80°
V60 – 80°
V80 – 85°
V100 – 85°

This allows one multi-V lower die to combine different forming angles rather than requiring every working groove to use one common die angle.

The illustrated tooling has an overall cross-section of 160 × 160 mm and a rated load capacity of 100 ton/m.

The V8, V12, V16 and V24 openings provide additional forming ranges within the same die body. Their exact groove geometry can be manufactured according to the required tooling design.

As with other custom multi-V tooling, the dimensions shown here represent one available configuration rather than a fixed manufacturing limitation. The number of grooves, V-opening sizes, groove positions, individual angles, V-bottom radii, overall dimensions and mounting structure can all be customized according to the customer's bending application.

8-Groove Multi-V Structure

The tooling integrates:

V8 → V12 → V16 → V24 → V48 → V60 → V80 → V100

within one 160 × 160 mm lower-die body.

In this configuration:

8 physical grooves = 8 different V-opening sizes.

Unlike high-groove-count dies where certain V sizes are repeated, every working groove shown here provides a different opening size.

This gives the operator several forming ranges within one tooling section.

Mixed 80° and 85° Groove Geometry

The most distinctive feature of this product is its use of different groove angles within one multi-V die.

80° Working Grooves

The illustrated V48 and V60 grooves use 80° geometry.

These openings provide an angle configuration different from the conventional 85° working grooves and can be selected where the bending process requires additional angular clearance or over-bending capability.

85° Working Grooves

The illustrated V80 and V100 grooves use 85° geometry.

These provide larger working openings with conventional 85° lower-die geometry.

Combining 80° and 85° working grooves demonstrates that the V-angle can be selected independently for different positions within the same die body.

V8 to V100 Working Range

The eight different V-openings provide a broad range of forming widths.

V8 / V12 / V16 / V24

These smaller openings provide relatively narrow forming widths for applications requiring smaller natural inside bend radii and thinner sheet ranges.

V48 / V60

These intermediate-to-large openings provide increased clearance and use the illustrated 80° geometry.

V80 / V100

These large V-openings provide substantially greater forming clearance and use 85° geometry in the illustrated configuration.

The correct working groove should always be selected according to:

  • Material grade
  • Sheet thickness
  • Tensile strength
  • Required inside bend radius
  • Bend angle
  • Flange geometry
  • Required bending force
  • Forming method

Individual Groove Angles Can Be Customized

A multi-V lower die does not need every V-groove to use the same angle.

Depending on the bending process, different working positions can be manufactured with different groove angles.

Available configurations can include:

30° · 60° · 80° · 85° · 88° · other customized angles

The angle can be selected together with:

  • V-opening size
  • Groove depth
  • V-bottom radius
  • Shoulder geometry
  • Groove position

This enables one multi-V tooling body to support several different forming requirements.

Same 160 × 160 mm Body, Different Multi-V Configurations

The external dimensions of a multi-V die do not determine its internal groove design.

WYS can manufacture different 160 × 160 mm multi-V dies with completely different:

  • Groove counts
  • V-opening combinations
  • Groove positions
  • Groove angles
  • V-bottom geometries
  • Working-face arrangements

For example, another 160 × 160 mm configuration can use only five working grooves concentrated on V24 / V54 / V64 / V100 / V120, while this configuration uses eight openings ranging from V8 to V100 and combines 80° and 85° groove angles.

Both have the same external body size but serve different bending requirements.

Advantages of This Mixed-Angle Multi-V Design

Eight Different V-Opening Sizes

Each physical groove provides a different forming width.

Two Groove-Angle Families

80° and 85° working grooves are combined within one die.
