TRUMPF Type V12 Spring Hemming Press Brake Lower Die – Plug-In Structure, 100 Ton/m - 1

TRUMPF Type V12 Spring Hemming Press Brake Lower Die – Plug-In Structure, 100 Ton/m

$320.00$330.00

TRUMPF Type V12 spring hemming lower die designed for pre-bending and flattening sheet metal edges in press brake hemming applications. The spring-loaded structure allows the tooling to support the initial V-bending stage and subsequent flattening operation, making it particularly suitable for hemming sheet metal up to approximately 1.5 mm thickness, depending on material and forming conditions. This model features a V12 opening, plug-in mounting structure, and 100 ton/m load capacity. Tool height, width, angle, V-opening, working length, spring structure, and mounting configuration can all be customized according to the customer's workpiece and press brake requirements.

Two-Stage Hemming with a Spring-Loaded Lower Die

The main advantage of this tooling is its spring-loaded hemming structure.

In a typical hemming process, the workpiece is first bent to an acute angle using the V-opening. The folded edge is then flattened in the second forming stage.

The process can be understood as:

Flat Sheet → Pre-Bending → Flattening → Finished Hem

The spring mechanism allows the lower die structure to move during the forming cycle, helping the tooling transition from the initial bending stage to the final flattening operation.

This makes the tool particularly useful for sheet metal components requiring a compact folded edge.

V12 Opening for Pre-Bending

The V12 opening is used during the initial forming stage.

This allows the sheet edge to be pre-bent before flattening.

The pre-bending stage is important because the sheet normally cannot be flattened directly from a completely flat condition. A controlled initial fold must first be created so that the material can be compressed into the final hem.

The V12 configuration provides a practical geometry for thin-sheet hemming applications, especially when working with material up to approximately 1.5 mm thickness.

Actual suitability depends on:

  • Material type
  • Material thickness
  • Material strength
  • Required hem geometry
  • Bending length
  • Machine capacity

Spring Structure for Flattening

After pre-bending, the tooling continues into the flattening stage.

The spring-loaded structure allows relative movement within the die assembly as the upper tool applies pressure to the pre-bent edge.

This design helps provide a controlled transition from:

V-Bending → Compression → Flattened Hem

Compared with a conventional fixed single-V lower die, this structure is specifically designed for hemming rather than ordinary angle bending.

Typical benefits include:

  • Reduced number of tooling changes
  • More efficient hemming workflow
  • Consistent folded-edge forming
  • Suitable structure for repeated CNC press brake production
  • Compact tooling solution for thin-sheet hemming

Suitable for Thin Sheet Hemming

This tooling is commonly used for sheet metal up to approximately 1.5 mm thickness.

Typical applications include:

  • Electrical cabinets
  • Sheet metal doors
  • Enclosures
  • Industrial panels
  • Metal furniture parts
  • Equipment covers
  • General fabricated sheet metal components
  • Components requiring folded or closed edges

After flattening, the folded area forms approximately a double-layer material section, depending on the final hem design and whether a fully closed or slightly open hem is required.

100 Ton/m Load Capacity & Plug-In Mounting

This model has a rated maximum load capacity of 100 ton/m.

The plug-in lower mounting structure provides a practical installation method for compatible TRUMPF Type tooling systems.

Actual forming force depends on:

  • Material strength
  • Sheet thickness
  • Hemming length
  • Pre-bending angle
  • Final hem geometry
  • Tooling configuration
  • Machine settings

The actual working force must remain within the allowable capacity of the upper tool, lower die, clamping system, and press brake machine.
