The product shown here is an RO26 round punch with corresponding lower die tooling. In the tooling designation, RO represents a round punching profile and 26 indicates a nominal diameter of 26 mm.

The RO26 tooling therefore represents a nominal Ø26 mm round-hole punching application.

The products shown in the photographs are manufacturing samples. RO26 is not a limitation of our production range. Different round punch diameters, lower die specifications and die clearances can be customized according to the customer's sheet metal material, thickness and required hole dimensions.

Technical Specifications

RO26 – Ø26 mm Round Punching Profile

The designation RO26 provides a simple identification of the punching geometry:

RO = Round
26 = Nominal diameter of 26 mm

The tooling is therefore intended for a nominal 26 mm circular punching profile.

Round holes are among the most widely used features in sheet metal components. A Ø26 mm punched opening may be used for mounting, component installation, cable or tube passage, assembly features and other industrial applications depending on the workpiece design.

The RO26 shown here is one example. Different diameters can be manufactured according to the required finished hole.

Round Punch and Die System

A round-hole punching operation relies on the coordinated geometry of the punch and lower die.

The punch provides the circular cutting profile, while the lower die provides the corresponding opening and necessary clearance for material shearing.

For an RO26 application, the nominal punching profile may remain Ø26 mm, while the actual lower die specification can vary according to the material being processed.

This is why the punch diameter alone is not sufficient when specifying a complete punch-and-die solution.

Die Clearance for Different Sheet Materials

Correct punch-to-die clearance is an important consideration when configuring punching tooling.

The required clearance can vary according to:
