Polyurethane Mark-Free Press Brake Dies for Scratch-Free Bending

Cost-Effective Mark-Free Bending with Polyurethane Press Brake Dies

Preventing scratches and pressure marks is important when bending stainless steel, aluminum and other sheet metal parts where the finished surface must remain clean. In addition to Rolla-V tooling, polyurethane press brake dies provide another practical solution for mark-free sheet metal bending.

Unlike the mechanical rotating structure of a Rolla-V Tool, this solution uses replaceable polyurethane contact elements at the working surface of the lower die. During bending, the sheet contacts the polyurethane instead of directly sliding against conventional hardened steel die shoulders. This helps reduce surface scratching, indentation and visible bending marks.

The tooling shown in these images is a customized batch manufactured by WYS Machinery, including multiple die heights, sizes and working lengths for different bending requirements.

Why Choose a Polyurethane Mark-Free Die?

Polyurethane mark-free tooling provides a particularly attractive balance between surface protection and tooling cost.

Compared with a Rolla-V Tool, the structure is simpler and generally more economical to manufacture. This makes it a practical choice when customers need to produce small or medium quantities of appearance-sensitive sheet metal parts without investing in a more complex long-life tooling system.

The polyurethane working elements are consumable components. They will gradually wear during repeated bending and can be replaced when necessary. Therefore, for high-volume continuous production, a Rolla-V solution may offer a longer service life, while polyurethane tooling can provide a more economical solution for lower-volume applications.

Typical Applications

This type of mark-free press brake tooling is particularly suitable for:

  • Stainless steel panels and covers
  • Aluminum sheet components
  • Decorative and appearance-sensitive sheet metal
  • Electrical cabinets and enclosures
  • Architectural metal components
  • Small and medium production batches
  • Applications requiring reduced bending marks and scratches

Custom Polyurethane Press Brake Tooling

WYS Machinery can customize polyurethane mark-free lower dies according to the customer's press brake, material, sheet thickness and bending requirements.

Different die heights, V-openings, working lengths and mounting configurations can be manufactured. The polyurethane contact elements can also be replaced after wear, helping extend the usable life of the main steel die body.

For customers who require scratch-free or reduced-mark bending but have relatively low production volumes, polyurethane mark-free press brake dies offer a practical and cost-effective alternative to more complex anti-marking tooling systems.
