R60 Replaceable Radius Tool for Multi-Radius Bending
When a manufacturer needs to bend parts with several different radii, purchasing a complete radius tool for every profile can significantly increase tooling cost.
For this application, WYS Machinery manufactured an R60 split-type radius tool consisting of a reusable Punch Holder and a Replaceable Radius Insert.

How Does the Split-Type Radius Tool Reduce Tooling Cost?
The main advantage of the modular design is that the Punch Holder does not need to be replaced every time a different bending radius is required.
When another radius is needed, the customer can keep the same holder and replace only the Radius Insert with a different profile.
This allows multiple radius inserts to share one Punch Holder, helping to:
- Reduce the number of complete tooling sets required
- Lower tooling investment for multiple bending radii
- Improve Punch Holder utilization
- Simplify future tooling expansion
One-Piece vs. Replaceable Radius Tooling
A one-piece radius tool integrates the forming profile and tool body into a complete structure.
A split-type design separates these functions into a Punch Holder + Replaceable Radius Insert. This makes the modular structure particularly practical when the same press brake is used to produce parts with several different radii.
The appropriate design can be selected according to the workpiece, required radius, production volume and tooling strategy.
Custom Radius Inserts and Mounting Interfaces
The R60 insert shown here represents one radius configuration. WYS Machinery can design other radius inserts according to the customer's workpiece drawings and bending requirements.
The Punch Holder and mounting interface can also be adapted for different press brake tooling systems, including TRUMPF Type, WILA Type, BYSTRONIC Type and LVD Type structures.
Customers can provide the required workpiece radii, material information, sheet thickness and machine tooling interface, allowing our engineering team to develop a suitable modular radius tooling solution.
