Description
4-Groove V64 / V80 / V100 / V140 Multi-V Press Brake Lower Die
This multi-V press brake lower die integrates four independent working V-grooves into a robust 180 × 180 mm tooling body.
The illustrated configuration includes four different V-opening sizes:
V64 · V80 · V100 · V140
Each working face provides a different large V-opening, allowing the lower die to cover several forming ranges within one tooling body.
With a rated load capacity of 100 ton/m, this configuration is designed around medium-to-large and large V-opening requirements rather than a high number of small grooves.
The V64 and V80 openings provide the smaller forming ranges within this particular tooling configuration. The V100 opening provides substantially greater clearance, while the V140 opening represents the largest working groove in the illustrated design.
The drawing also indicates an R12 radius feature, demonstrating that groove-bottom geometry can be engineered together with the V-opening size.
The 180 × 180 mm external dimensions do not define one fixed multi-V configuration. Other dies with the same body dimensions can be manufactured with completely different groove counts, V-opening sizes, positions, angles and radii.
The tooling shown here therefore represents one available manufacturing example rather than a fixed product limitation.

4-Groove Multi-V Structure
The defining feature of this product is its four-groove large-opening multi-V structure.
The tooling integrates:
V64 → V80 → V100 → V140
within one 180 × 180 mm lower-die body.
In this configuration:
4 physical grooves = 4 different V-opening sizes.
Unlike high-density multi-V dies that integrate many smaller grooves, this structure uses only four working faces so that more die-body space can be allocated to large V-openings.
This illustrates an important multi-V design principle:
The optimum number of grooves depends on the required V-opening range rather than on maximizing groove count.
V64 to V140 Working Range
The four V-openings provide progressively larger forming clearance.
V64
The V64 opening provides the smallest working width within this configuration while already belonging to a relatively large V-opening range.
V80
The V80 groove provides greater forming clearance and can support applications requiring larger natural inside bend radii.
V100
The V100 opening provides a substantially wider forming range and increased material clearance.
V140
The V140 groove provides the largest opening in this illustrated configuration, making it suitable for applications requiring very wide die clearance and larger natural bend radii.
The appropriate V-opening should always be selected according to:
- Sheet thickness
- Material grade
- Tensile strength
- Required inside bend radius
- Bend angle
- Flange geometry
- Required forming force
- Bending method
Large V-Opening Multi-V Configuration
This product is different from many smaller multi-V dies because its design is concentrated on large V-openings rather than high groove density.
A 180 × 180 mm body provides sufficient space to integrate V64, V80, V100 and V140 working grooves while maintaining substantial supporting material around the working sections.
This type of configuration can be useful for:
- Medium and thicker sheet bending
- Larger inside bend-radius requirements
- Applications requiring wide lower-die openings
- Production involving several different large V-opening sizes
- Workshops seeking to reduce the number of separate large single-V dies
The final tooling configuration should always be evaluated according to the actual forming force and workpiece requirements.
Custom V-Bottom Geometry
The drawing indicates an R12 radius feature, demonstrating that a large V-opening does not need to use one fixed groove-bottom profile.
WYS Machinery can customize:
- V-bottom radius
- Shoulder radius
- Groove angle
- Groove depth
- V-opening width
- Groove position
Different working grooves within one multi-V die can therefore be designed with different geometry according to the required forming process.
Same 180 × 180 mm Body, Different Groove Configurations
The external dimensions of a multi-V lower die do not define one fixed working structure.
Different 180 × 180 mm multi-V dies can be manufactured with different:
- Groove counts
- V-opening sizes
- Groove positions
- Groove angles
- V-bottom radii
- Working-face arrangements
- Shoulder geometries
The V64 / V80 / V100 / V140 arrangement shown here is one reference configuration only.
Another 180 × 180 mm die can use a completely different groove strategy according to the customer's sheet-thickness range and production requirements.
Advantages of This 4-Groove Design
Four Large Forming Ranges
Four distinct large V-openings are integrated into one tooling body.
V64 to V140 Coverage
The die provides a broad large-opening range without requiring a separate tool for every V size.
Reduced Large-Tool Inventory
Several large V-opening functions can be combined within one lower die.
Robust Tooling Geometry
The relatively low groove count allows substantial body material to remain around the large V-openings.
Custom Engineering
Opening size, groove angle, position, radius and overall tooling geometry can all be designed according to the customer's bending requirements.
Typical Applications
This 180 × 180 mm multi-V lower die is suitable for:
- Medium and thicker sheet bending
- Carbon steel bending
- Stainless steel bending
- Structural sheet metal fabrication
- Machinery and heavy equipment components
- Large industrial sheet metal parts
- Large enclosure fabrication
- Applications requiring larger natural inside bend radii
- Applications requiring V64 to V140 forming ranges
- Mixed-production environments using several large V-openings
- Workshops seeking to reduce separate large lower-die inventory
