Description

V80 85° Stepped-Base Single-V Press Brake Lower Die

This V80 85° press brake lower die combines a large single-V working groove with a stepped lower mounting structure, providing a robust lower-tool configuration for sheet metal air-bending applications requiring a large V-opening and substantial forming clearance.

The illustrated model features:

V-Opening: V80 / 80 mm
Die Angle: 85°
Overall Height: 80 mm
Main Body Width: 95 mm
Bottom Base Width: 60 mm
Stepped Section Height: 20 mm
Shoulder Radius: R6
V-Bottom Radius: R5
Rated Load Capacity: 100 ton/m

The lower mounting profile differs from the narrow plug-in configuration used on many other single-V dies. In this design, the 95 mm main body transitions to a 60 mm wide stepped base, providing a distinctive lower-tool mounting geometry.

The tooling shown on this page represents one available configuration only. WYS Machinery can manufacture the complete lower-die cross-section according to the customer's machine, die holder and workpiece requirements.

V80 Opening for Large Forming Clearance

The 80 mm V-opening provides a large forming zone and substantial workpiece clearance during bending.

Compared with smaller V-opening dies, the V80 configuration provides:

  • Greater forming clearance
  • A broader working zone
  • More space around the workpiece
  • Suitability for applications requiring a larger expected bend radius
  • More flexibility for heavier or larger sheet-metal components, subject to actual bending-force requirements

The appropriate V-opening should be selected according to the material grade, sheet thickness, required inside radius, minimum flange dimension and bending force.

85° V-Groove for Precision Air Bending

The illustrated model uses an 85° single-V groove.

This geometry is suitable for precision air-bending applications where some angular allowance may be required to compensate for material springback.

The final bend result depends on multiple factors, including:

  • Material type
  • Sheet thickness
  • Punch angle
  • V-opening
  • Material springback
  • Inside bend radius
  • Flange dimensions
  • Required bending force

The 85° angle shown here is one available configuration. Other die angles can also be manufactured according to the customer's actual forming process.

Stepped-Base Mounting Structure

A key feature of this lower die is its stepped-base mounting structure.

The illustrated geometry includes:

Main Body Width: 95 mm
Bottom Base Width: 60 mm
Stepped Section Height: 20 mm

This differs from a typical plug-in lower die, which uses a narrower bottom mounting shank inserted into a corresponding die holder.

The stepped-base design provides a wider and more substantial lower-tool body while retaining a narrower mounting base.

The base width, step height, body width and positioning geometry can all be customized according to the customer's machine and die-holder requirements.

R6 Shoulder Radius and R5 V-Bottom Radius

The illustrated V80 groove includes two clearly defined radius features:

Shoulder Radius: R6
V-Bottom Radius: R5

These radii form part of the working geometry around the V-groove and can be adjusted according to the required forming process.

The groove radius, shoulder radius and edge geometry are not limited to the dimensions shown.
