Description

7-Groove V8 / V12 / V16 / V24 / V32 / V40 / V48 Multi-V Press Brake Lower Die

This multi-V press brake lower die integrates seven independent V-grooves into a 90 × 90 mm tooling body, providing seven different V-opening sizes within one lower tool.

The illustrated configuration includes:

V8 · V12 · V16 · V24 · V32 · V40 · V48

The V-grooves are distributed around different working faces and positions of the tooling body, allowing the appropriate opening to be selected according to the sheet thickness, material properties, desired inside bend radius and bending process.

The illustrated V48 groove also features a rounded V-bottom geometry, demonstrating that the groove profile itself can be adapted in addition to the V-opening size.

With a rated load capacity of 100 ton/m, this multi-V lower die covers a broad range of forming requirements within one tooling body.

An important characteristic of multi-V tooling is that the external dimensions do not determine one fixed groove configuration. Different 90 × 90 mm lower dies can have completely different V-opening sizes, groove quantities, positions, angles and working-face arrangements.

The product shown here is therefore one available configuration rather than a limitation of WYS Machinery's manufacturing capability.

7-Groove Multi-V Structure

The defining feature of this lower die is its seven-groove multi-V configuration.

Seven V-opening sizes are integrated into one tooling body:

V8 → V12 → V16 → V24 → V32 → V40 → V48

This provides a broad progression from relatively small forming openings to much larger V-grooves.

The lower die can be repositioned so that the required V-opening becomes the active working groove.

Compared with a conventional single-V or double-V lower die, this structure provides substantially greater flexibility for production involving multiple sheet thicknesses and bending requirements.

V8 to V48 Working Range

The seven V-opening sizes provide different forming ranges.

V8 and V12

These smaller openings provide relatively narrow forming widths and are suitable for applications requiring smaller natural inside bend radii.

V16 and V24

These intermediate openings provide a broader range for general sheet metal bending applications.

V32 and V40

The larger openings provide increased forming clearance and support applications requiring larger natural inside bend radii or thicker sheet material.

V48

The V48 opening provides the largest forming width in this illustrated configuration.

The appropriate V-opening should always be selected according to:

  • Sheet thickness
  • Material grade
  • Tensile strength
  • Required inside bend radius
  • Bend angle
  • Flange geometry
  • Available forming force
  • Bending method

Custom V-Bottom Geometry

V-opening size is not the only parameter that can be customized.

The illustrated large V-opening uses a rounded V-bottom profile, showing that the bottom geometry of the groove can also be designed according to the required bending application.

Depending on the customer's requirements, WYS Machinery can customize:

  • Sharp or rounded V-bottom geometry
  • Bottom radius
  • Shoulder geometry
  • Groove angle
  • V-opening size
  • Groove position

This provides additional flexibility when the bending process requires a specific die profile rather than a conventional sharp-bottom V-groove.

Same 90 × 90 mm Body, Different Multi-V Configurations

Multi-V lower dies with the same external dimensions can have completely different working geometry.

For example, different 90 × 90 mm multi-V dies may use different:

  • Number of physical V-grooves
  • V-opening sizes
  • Groove positions
  • Groove angles
  • V-bottom radii
  • Shoulder geometry
  • Working-face arrangements

Therefore, the external die dimensions alone do not define the forming capability of a multi-V lower die.

The actual configuration should be selected or designed according to the customer's production range.

Advantages of a 7-Groove Multi-V Die

Seven Forming Ranges in One Tool

Seven different V-openings provide a wide range of bending options within one lower die body.

Reduced Separate Tooling

Multiple V-openings can replace several individual single-V lower dies for mixed-production requirements.

Flexible V-Opening Selection

Different working faces can be selected according to the current material thickness and bending specification.

Broad V-Opening Range

The V8-to-V48 configuration combines small, medium and relatively large V-openings within one tooling body.

Custom Groove Geometry

V-opening sizes, groove positions, angles and bottom profiles can all be configured according to the required bending process.

Typical Applications

This 90 × 90 mm 7-groove multi-V lower die is suitable for:

  • General sheet metal fabrication
  • Mixed-thickness production
  • Thin, medium and thicker sheet bending
  • Carbon steel bending
  • Stainless steel bending
  • Electrical enclosure manufacturing
  • Industrial cabinet production
  • Machinery and equipment fabrication
  • Structural sheet metal components
  • High-mix manufacturing
  • Small- and medium-batch production
  • Applications requiring several V-opening sizes
  • Production where reducing separate lower-die changes improves tooling efficiency

Custom Multi-V Press Brake Dies

WYS Machinery manufactures custom multi-V press brake lower dies according to actual bending requirements.

The illustrated 90 × 90 mm, 7-groove V8 / V12 / V16 / V24 / V32 / V40 / V48 configuration is one manufacturing example only.

Customers can customize:

number of V-grooves, V-opening sizes, groove positions, groove angles, V-bottom radii, shoulder geometry, working-face arrangement, overall height, overall width, load capacity, tool length, segmentation and mounting profile.

For non-standard applications, customers can provide:

  • Workpiece drawings
  • Sheet thickness range
  • Material grade
  • Required bending angles
  • Required inside radii
  • Press brake model
  • Existing tooling drawings
  • Existing die samples

Our engineering team can evaluate the application and develop a suitable multi-V lower die configuration.

Compatible Press Brake Tooling Systems

WYS Machinery can manufacture multi-V lower dies for different press brake tooling standards and machine configurations.

Available configurations include:

AMADA / Promecam Type, TRUMPF Type, WILA Type, LVD Type, Bystronic Type, European Type and other customized press brake tooling systems.

The 90 × 90 mm structure shown here is one reference design only.

The V-opening combination, groove angle, groove position, V-bottom profile, overall dimensions, working-face geometry and mounting interface can all be adapted according to the customer's press brake.

WYS's current indexed lower-die pages already state that V-openings, die angles, overall dimensions, positioning structures and mounting interfaces can be customized, while the AMADA Type category explicitly associates WYS with multi-V dies.
