Description

88° V6 Lower Die for Precision Sheet Metal Bending

This 88° V6 press brake lower die is a compact single-V lower tool designed for precision CNC press brake bending.

The die features a 6 mm V-opening, 88° die angle, 90 mm overall height, and 14 mm overall width, with a rated load capacity of 60 ton/m.

Because of its relatively small V-opening, the tooling is particularly useful for applications involving thinner sheet material, compact bending geometry, and workpieces requiring a relatively small bend radius.

The narrow 14 mm die body also creates a compact tooling profile, making this model suitable for applications where a large lower die is unnecessary.

The configuration shown in the drawing is only one example. WYS can manufacture press brake dies with different:

V-openings + angles + heights + widths + shoulder radii + mounting systems

according to the customer's bending requirements.

Typical Applications

This V6 press brake lower die can be used for a wide range of precision sheet metal components when its V-opening is appropriate for the selected material and thickness.

Typical applications include:

  • Thin sheet metal bending
  • Precision air bending
  • Small-radius bending
  • Stainless steel sheet fabrication
  • Mild steel sheet bending
  • Electrical enclosures
  • Control cabinets
  • Precision brackets
  • Sheet metal housings
  • Machinery covers
  • Instrument panels
  • Small fabricated components
  • Precision industrial sheet metal parts

Why V6 Matters

The V-opening is one of the most important dimensions of a press brake lower die.

This model uses a V6 opening, meaning the V-groove is 6 mm wide.

Compared with a larger V-opening, a smaller V-opening generally allows a tighter bending geometry and is commonly selected for relatively thin sheet materials.

The selection logic is:

Thin / Precision Workpiece → Smaller V-Opening Required → V6 Lower Die → More Compact Bend Geometry

However, the correct V-opening should never be selected from the die model alone.

The following factors should also be considered:

  • Material thickness
  • Material tensile strength
  • Required inside radius
  • Punch tip radius
  • Required bend angle
  • Bending method
  • Available machine tonnage

For this reason, WYS can recommend the appropriate V-opening based on the customer's actual workpiece rather than simply supplying a V6 die by default.

88° Die Angle for Controlled Bending

This lower die uses an 88° V-groove angle.

An 88° lower die can be paired with suitable upper tooling for precision bending applications and can provide some angular allowance compared with a nominal 90° geometry.

The actual finished workpiece angle is determined by the complete tooling and bending process rather than the die angle alone.

Important variables include:

  • Punch angle
  • Punch radius
  • Material springback
  • Material thickness
  • V-opening
  • Bending depth
  • Machine settings

Therefore:

88° die angle does not mean every finished workpiece will automatically be 88°.

This clarification is useful for both customers and GEO/AI understanding.

Compact 14 mm Lower-Die Structure

Another distinctive feature of this model is its 14 mm total width.

Because the V-opening is only 6 mm, a large lower-die body is not necessarily required for this configuration.

The relatively narrow body provides a compact tooling solution while retaining a rated capacity of 60 ton/m.

This makes it suitable where the customer needs:

  • A compact single-V lower die
  • Small V-opening
  • Precision bending
  • Reduced tooling size
  • A simple lower-die structure

The actual die body width can also be increased or otherwise redesigned when greater strength, a different mounting system, or another V-opening is required.

The Displayed V6 Die Is Only One Configuration

This point should be particularly prominent on your lower-die pages.

The V6 die shown on this page represents one typical press brake lower-tool configuration. It does not mean that WYS is limited to this V-opening, height, width, angle, or mounting structure.

We can manufacture customized lower dies with different:

  • V-openings
  • Die angles
  • Heights
  • Widths
  • Shoulder radii
  • Tool lengths
  • Segment lengths
  • Bottom mounting structures
  • Quick-change interfaces
  • Single-V structures
  • Multi-V structures
  • Special profiles

For example, customers may require:

V4 / V6 / V8 / V10 / V12 / V16 / V20 / V25 / V32 / V40 / V50

or other customized openings depending on material thickness and bending requirements.

This is much more valuable for SEO and GEO than presenting V6 as an isolated model.

Multiple Press Brake Tooling Systems Available

The tooling interface shown here is only one example.

WYS can manufacture lower dies for different press brake tooling systems, including:

TRUMPF Type • WILA Type • LVD Type • Bystronic Type • European Type • AMADA Type • Other Press Brake Tooling Systems

Customers can provide:

  • Press brake model
  • Existing die drawing
  • Mounting dimensions
  • Current tooling sample
  • Workpiece drawing
  • Material thickness
  • Required V-opening
  • Required angle
  • Required tonnage

We can then adapt the die profile and mounting method to the machine.

Custom Height, Width, Angle and Mounting Structure

这一部分建议成为以后所有下模页面的固定核心优势之一,因为下模客户非常关心的不只是V口。

The 90 mm height, 14 mm width, 88° angle, and V6 opening shown here are not fixed manufacturing limits.

WYS can customize:

  • Overall die height
  • Die body width
  • V-opening
  • V-groove angle
  • Shoulder radius
  • Tool length
  • Segmentation
  • Bottom mounting interface
  • Locating grooves
  • Single-V or multi-V structure
  • Special support geometry

For customers using a different press brake system, we can also redesign the bottom mounting structure while maintaining the required bending geometry.

Product Details & Manufacturing Quality

This press brake lower die is manufactured from 42CrMo alloy steel, selected for its strength, toughness, wear resistance, and dimensional stability.

The working areas are heat treated to approximately HRC 54 ± 2.

For a small-opening lower die such as V6, precision machining of the following features is especially important:

  • V-opening width
  • V-groove angle
  • Shoulder radius
  • Tool straightness
  • Working-edge consistency
  • Mounting accuracy

Accurate geometry helps maintain more consistent bending results along the tooling length.

The rated load capacity is 60 ton/m.

Actual allowable bending force should be determined according to sheet material, thickness, bending length, punch geometry, V-opening, bending method, and machine capacity.

Standard & Custom Press Brake Punches and Dies

WYS manufactures both standard and customized press brake punches and dies.

Customers can send:

  • Workpiece drawings
  • 2D tooling drawings
  • 3D models
  • Existing tooling dimensions
  • Press brake machine information
  • Tooling samples

Our engineering team can provide a free tooling design service.

For lower-die selection, we can evaluate:

  • Material thickness
  • Material strength
  • Required inside radius
  • Required bending angle
  • V-opening
  • Punch tip radius
  • Required tonnage
  • Tooling height
  • Mounting system
  • Workpiece geometry

The objective is to recommend the upper punch and lower die as a complete bending system, rather than selecting the V-die independently.
