Description

V16 / V25 85° Double-V Press Brake Lower Die

This double-V press brake lower die, also referred to as a 2V lower die, integrates V16 and V25 openings into a single compact die body.

Both working grooves are manufactured at an 85° die angle. The illustrated configuration has an overall width of 50 mm, an overall height of 26 mm, and a rated load capacity of 80 ton/m.

The combination of V16 and V25 provides two different forming openings within one lower tool. The smaller V16 groove is suitable for applications requiring a relatively smaller V-opening and bend radius, while the larger V25 opening provides increased forming clearance for thicker sheet, larger natural bend radii and bending applications requiring a wider die opening.

By integrating two V-grooves into one die body, the double-V configuration provides practical flexibility for production environments handling different sheet thicknesses and workpiece requirements.

The illustrated version uses a plug-in mounting system, providing a defined interface with the corresponding lower die holder or press brake table system.

The V16 / V25 configuration shown here represents one available tooling design. Different V-opening combinations, die angles, overall dimensions, load capacities and mounting structures can be manufactured according to customer requirements.

V16 / V25 Double-V Configuration

The illustrated die combines a 16 mm V-opening and a 25 mm V-opening within one lower tooling body.

Compared with smaller double-V configurations, the V25 groove provides a wider forming opening. This can be beneficial when the bending process requires:

  • Thicker sheet material
  • Increased forming clearance
  • Larger natural inside bend radius
  • Lower forming force compared with a smaller V-opening under otherwise similar conditions
  • Greater flexibility across different sheet thicknesses

The V16 groove provides an additional smaller V-opening within the same tooling body, allowing the operator to select between two different lower die openings according to the bending requirement.

The actual V-opening should be selected according to the workpiece material, thickness, tensile strength, required inside radius, flange dimensions and bending method.

Typical Applications

This V16 / V25 double-V press brake lower die is suitable for:

  • General sheet metal bending
  • Medium-thickness sheet fabrication
  • Carbon steel bending
  • Stainless steel bending
  • Electrical enclosure manufacturing
  • Metal cabinet fabrication
  • Machine cover production
  • Equipment housing manufacturing
  • Structural sheet metal components
  • Mixed-thickness production
  • Applications requiring both medium and larger V-openings
  • Bending jobs requiring greater forming clearance

Larger V25 Opening for Wider Forming Requirements

The V25 groove offers a larger forming opening than V16 and the smaller V-openings used in previous double-V configurations.

A larger V-opening can provide:

  • Increased clearance around the workpiece
  • A larger natural inside bend radius
  • Reduced forming pressure under comparable bending conditions
  • Improved suitability for thicker sheet material
  • More flexibility for applications where a small V-opening would be too restrictive

The final V-die selection should always be based on the actual sheet thickness, material strength, target bend radius and workpiece geometry.

Plug-In Lower Die Mounting System

The illustrated V16 / V25 lower die uses a plug-in mounting configuration.

The bottom profile engages with a corresponding lower die holder or press brake table interface, providing positioning and support during bending.

The plug-in structure shown here represents one reference mounting design only.

WYS Machinery can customize the lower mounting interface according to:

  • Press brake model
  • Existing lower die holder
  • Existing tooling system
  • Tooling drawing
  • Existing tooling sample
  • Required mounting dimensions

The entire lower die cross-section can therefore be adapted to different press brake configurations.

Custom Double-V Press Brake Dies

WYS Machinery manufactures standard and customized double-V press brake dies for different sheet metal bending requirements.

The V16 / V25 configuration shown on this page is one production example rather than a fixed manufacturing limitation.

Customers can customize:

V-opening combinations, V-groove angles, overall height, overall width, shoulder geometry, V-bottom geometry, load capacity, tooling length, segmented length, bottom profile and mounting interface.

For non-standard bending requirements, customers can provide:

  • Workpiece drawings
  • Material specification
  • Sheet thickness
  • Required bending angle
  • Press brake model
  • Existing tooling drawings

Our engineering team can evaluate the bending application and recommend a suitable lower die configuration.

Compatible Press Brake Tooling Systems

WYS Machinery manufactures double-V and multi-V lower dies for different press brake tooling standards and machine configurations.

Available configurations include:

AMADA / Promecam Type, TRUMPF Type, WILA Type, LVD Type, Bystronic Type, European Type and other customized press brake tooling systems.

The plug-in profile, height and width shown on this page are reference specifications only.

The V-opening combination, die angle, overall dimensions and complete mounting structure can be redesigned according to the customer's machine and tooling interface.
