Description

The WYS 30° V32 Bystronic-type single-V die is designed for air bending and acute-angle forming of medium-gauge sheet metal. It has a 32 mm V-opening, commonly referred to as V32, together with a 120 mm overall height, 100 mm effective working height and 48 mm total tool width.

Compared with narrower V6 and V12 dies, the wider V32 opening can accommodate thicker sheet material and generally produces a larger natural internal bend radius. It also reduces the bending force required for the same sheet thickness, making it useful for applications where a wider die opening is appropriate.

The 30° groove provides sufficient space for bending the workpiece beyond 90°. This makes the die suitable for acute-angle forming, springback compensation and pre-bending before a subsequent flattening or hemming operation.

With a maximum load capacity of 30 ton/m, the die is intended for applications where the calculated bending force remains within its rated capacity. Manufactured from high-strength 42CrMo alloy steel, it is precision-machined and heat-treated for consistent groove geometry, reliable alignment and repeatable bending results.

The correct sheet thickness cannot be determined from the V-opening alone. Material strength, punch radius, required internal radius, bending length, flange dimension and forming method must also be considered. The calculated bending force must remain within the die’s rated capacity of 30 ton/m.

Product Details / Manufacturing Quality

The V32 opening provides substantially more forming space than V6 and V12 dies. For the same material and sheet thickness, the wider opening generally creates a larger natural internal radius and requires less bending force. However, it also requires a larger minimum flange, so the die should be selected according to the finished workpiece dimensions.

Its 30° groove angle enables the material to be formed beyond a right angle. This is useful when additional overbending is required to compensate for springback or when producing an acute pre-bend before a separate hemming operation.

The die has an overall height of 120 mm and an effective height of 100 mm. Its 48 mm body width provides structural support around the wider V-opening while maintaining compatibility with the corresponding lower-tool mounting system.

Manufactured from 42CrMo alloy steel, the die provides strength, toughness and resistance to deformation. Precision machining and controlled heat treatment help maintain accurate V-opening geometry, stable installation and consistent bending repeatability.
