Description

V12 / V16 85° Offset-Mount Double-V Press Brake Lower Die

This double-V press brake lower die, also referred to as a 2V lower die, integrates V12 and V16 openings into one tooling body.

Both V-grooves are manufactured at an 85° die angle and are positioned side by side on the same working surface.

The illustrated configuration has an overall height of 46 mm, an overall width of 50 mm, and a rated load capacity of 80 ton/m.

The V12 and V16 openings provide two different forming widths within one lower tool. The V12 groove offers a relatively smaller forming opening, while the V16 groove provides additional clearance for applications requiring a larger V-opening or natural inside bend radius.

A defining feature of this configuration is its offset mounting arrangement. The centerline of the plug-in mounting interface is not coincident with the centerline of the working V-grooves. This distinguishes the die from centered mounting configurations where the active V-opening and lower mounting interface share the same centerline.

Offset mounting geometry can be used to match a specific lower die holder, machine table, tooling position or required bending setup.

The illustrated V12 / V16 structure represents one available tooling configuration rather than a fixed manufacturing limitation. V-opening combinations, groove angles, overall dimensions, centerline relationships and mounting profiles can all be customized according to the customer's press brake and bending requirements.

Same-Surface Double-V Configuration

The V12 and V16 grooves are arranged side by side on the same working surface.

This type of configuration is practical when:

  • Both V-openings can be accommodated within the available die width
  • Sufficient shoulder material can be maintained
  • Adequate spacing exists between the working grooves
  • Two related V-opening sizes are required within one lower die
  • A compact conventional double-V structure is preferred

Compared with a two-face double-V die, both V-grooves remain on the same upper working plane.

For larger V-opening combinations or designs requiring additional shoulder material, WYS Machinery can also manufacture two-face double-V dies with the working grooves positioned on separate faces.

Offset Mounting Configuration

A key feature of this lower die is the offset relationship between the V-groove positions and the mounting interface.

In this configuration, the centerline of the plug-in mounting interface does not coincide with the centerline of the working V-groove.

This differs from a centered mounting configuration, where the active V-opening is positioned directly over the mounting centerline.

Offset configurations may be selected according to:

  • Existing press brake table geometry
  • Lower die holder dimensions
  • Required tooling position
  • Machine centerline requirements
  • Workpiece clearance
  • Existing tooling standard
  • Customer-specific installation requirements

WYS Machinery can manufacture both centered and offset lower die configurations according to the customer's machine and application.

V12 and V16 Working Openings

The V12 opening provides a medium forming width for applications requiring a relatively smaller V-opening and natural inside bend radius.

The V16 opening provides greater forming clearance and can be selected when a larger V-opening is more appropriate for the material thickness, desired bend radius or forming process.

Integrating V12 and V16 into one lower die provides practical flexibility for production involving different:

  • Sheet thicknesses
  • Material grades
  • Inside bend radii
  • Part geometries
  • Production batches

The correct V-opening should always be selected according to the actual sheet material, thickness, required bend geometry and bending method.

Typical Applications

This V12 / V16 double-V lower die is suitable for:

  • General sheet metal bending
  • Precision sheet metal fabrication
  • Thin and medium sheet bending
  • Carbon steel bending
  • Stainless steel bending
  • Electrical enclosure manufacturing
  • Control cabinet production
  • Machinery covers and housings
  • Industrial sheet metal components
  • Mixed-production bending
  • Applications requiring two related V-opening sizes
  • Press brake systems requiring an offset lower-die mounting position

Plug-In Lower Die Mounting System

The illustrated tooling uses a plug-in mounting system.

The bottom profile engages with the corresponding lower die holder or press brake table interface to provide positioning and support during bending.

In this design, the mounting interface is positioned with an offset centerline relationship relative to the working V-grooves.

The illustrated plug-in profile is only one reference configuration.

WYS Machinery can customize:

  • Plug-in profile
  • Mounting width
  • Centerline position
  • Offset distance
  • Centered or offset mounting
  • Overall die cross-section
  • Tooling length
  • Segmentation

according to the customer's existing machine and lower tooling system.
