Description
V20 35° Single-V Press Brake Lower Die for Sharp Acute-Angle Bending
This V20 press brake lower die is designed with a single-V structure for sheet metal forming applications that require a sharp 35° V-groove and increased bending clearance.
The illustrated configuration features a 20 mm V-opening, 35° die angle, 90 mm overall height and 35 mm body width, with a rated load capacity of 70 ton/m.
The combination of the V20 opening and 35° groove geometry makes this lower die suitable for sharp acute-angle air bending, pre-bending and multi-stage forming operations where a much narrower included angle is required than with conventional 60°, 85°, 88° or 90° lower dies.
Compared with smaller V8, V10, V12 and V16 acute-angle dies, the V20 opening provides greater forming clearance and is suitable for applications requiring a larger bending radius or broader workpiece geometry.
35° V-Groove for Acute-Angle Forming
The 35° die angle is designed for bending processes where the workpiece must be formed to a very acute included angle.
Typical applications include:
- Sharp acute-angle air bending
- Pre-bending operations
- Multi-stage forming
- Precision flange bending
- Components requiring additional springback allowance
- Preparation for subsequent forming operations
- Customized acute-angle sheet metal parts
The final tooling geometry should be selected according to the material grade, sheet thickness, required bending angle and workpiece geometry.
V20 Single-V Die Geometry
The illustrated lower die combines a 20 mm V-opening with a 35 mm body width, providing a robust and stable support structure around the forming zone.
Main dimensions include:
- V20 / 20 mm V-opening
- 35° die angle
- 90 mm overall height
- 75 mm effective height
- 35 mm body width
- 14 mm bottom mounting width
- Approx. R2.5 shoulder radius
- 70 ton/m load capacity
The die angle, shoulder radius and surrounding edge dimensions can also be customized according to the required bending process.
Custom Effective Tool Height
The illustrated configuration has a standard effective working height of 75 mm.
The effective height is not limited to this dimension and can be manufactured according to the customer's:
- Press brake configuration
- Upper tooling height
- Machine daylight
- Clamping system
- Existing tooling combination
The overall tool height and effective height can therefore be coordinated as part of the complete tooling solution.
