Description

The KJ-5-Q Single-Sided Mechanical Press Brake Quick Clamp is designed to improve upper tool installation efficiency while maintaining accurate and stable punch positioning. Installed between the press brake ram and the upper punch, it provides a practical quick-clamping solution for press brake tooling that supports horizontal side loading.

The integrated lever handle enables the operator to lock and release the upper tool without repeatedly tightening multiple conventional clamping screws. This helps reduce tooling setup and changeover time, particularly in sheet metal workshops that frequently replace punches for different bending operations.

The press brake punch is inserted horizontally from the side of the clamping line. Once the tool is correctly positioned, the operator moves the lever to activate the mechanical clamping mechanism and securely hold the punch in place. The system operates without hydraulic pressure, compressed air, or an electrical control unit, making it easy to install, operate, and maintain.

Manufactured primarily from 45# carbon steel, the KJ-5-Q provides reliable strength and rigidity for regular press brake operations. Critical mounting, positioning, and alignment surfaces are precision-machined. Key dimensional tolerances are controlled within ±0.02 mm, while parallelism and perpendicularity are maintained within 0.02 mm to support accurate upper tool alignment.

How the Quick Clamp Works

The press brake upper punch is inserted horizontally into the clamp from the side of the machine. After the punch reaches the required position, the operator moves the lever handle to activate the mechanical clamping mechanism. The clamp then secures the upper tool against its locating surface.

Moving the lever in the opposite direction releases the punch, allowing it to be removed or replaced. This manual quick-clamping method reduces the need for repeated screw tightening and makes frequent press brake tool changes faster and more convenient.

Side-Loading Tool Installation

The KJ-5-Q uses a side-loading configuration. The upper tool must be inserted horizontally from the end of the press brake clamping line rather than directly from below.

This structure is suitable for compatible full-length and segmented press brake punches. The actual installation method depends on the upper tool tang profile, safety groove, press brake ram interface, and machine configuration.

Typical Applications

  • CNC and conventional hydraulic press brakes
  • Press brake upper punch installation
  • Side-loading upper tooling systems
  • Segmented and full-length press brake punches
  • General sheet metal bending
  • Electrical cabinets and control enclosures
  • Metal doors, panels, and equipment housings
  • HVAC duct and ventilation component manufacturing
  • Stainless steel and carbon steel fabrication
  • Workshops requiring frequent upper tool changes
  • Press brake upgrades using manual quick clamps

Precision and Manufacturing Quality

Accurate alignment between the upper punch and lower die is essential for consistent bending results. The KJ-5-Q is therefore manufactured with close control of its critical mounting and locating dimensions.

Key dimensional tolerances are controlled within ±0.02 mm. Parallelism and perpendicularity are maintained within 0.02 mm to help reduce upper tool positioning errors and support consistent punch alignment along the press brake working length.

The primary 45# carbon steel construction provides the strength and rigidity required for a mechanical press brake tooling clamp. Precision-machined mounting, clamping, and locating surfaces contribute to stable operation and repeatable upper tool installation.

Advantages of Mechanical Quick Clamping

Unlike hydraulic or pneumatic press brake clamping systems, the KJ-5-Q operates through a mechanical lever. It does not require a hydraulic pump, compressed-air supply, electrical control unit, or additional power circuit.

Compared with conventional screw clamps, the lever-operated mechanism can reduce tool change time and operator workload. Its straightforward mechanical construction also makes inspection and maintenance more convenient.

The KJ-5-Q is a practical solution for new press brakes, machine upgrades, and fabrication workshops that require reliable manual quick clamping without the complexity of a powered clamping system.

Compatibility and Customization

Press brake clamping dimensions and mounting interfaces vary according to the machine ram, intermediate, upper punch tang, safety groove, and tooling standard. Customers should provide machine drawings, mounting dimensions, upper tooling profiles, or clear installation photographs before ordering.

WYS Machinery can evaluate the press brake and tooling interface and provide suitable clamp dimensions or customized clamping solutions based on the customer’s machine configuration and bending requirements.
