Description
The KJ-6-Q Vertical-Loading Mechanical Press Brake Quick Clamp is designed to simplify the installation and replacement of press brake upper tooling. Unlike conventional side-loading clamps, this model allows compatible punches to be inserted upward into the clamp and removed downward from the front of the machine.
Its vertical tool-loading configuration is particularly useful when long tooling arrangements or nearby machine components make horizontal insertion inconvenient. The operator does not need to slide every punch along the entire clamping line from the end of the press brake.
One of the most important advantages of the KJ-6-Q is its support for one-handed tool changing. The mechanical quick-release handle and tool-retention structure allow the operator to control the clamp while supporting and positioning the compatible punch with one hand. This can shorten setup time, reduce unnecessary tool handling, and improve productivity during frequent bending job changeovers.
The KJ-6-Q has a working height of 100 mm and a clamp width of 150 mm. Its main components are manufactured from 45# carbon steel to provide the strength and rigidity required for reliable upper tool clamping.
Critical mounting and alignment surfaces are precision-machined. Key dimensional tolerances are controlled within ±0.02 mm, with parallelism and perpendicularity maintained within 0.02 mm to support accurate punch positioning and consistent alignment with the lower die.

Vertical Tool Loading and Unloading
The KJ-6-Q allows a compatible press brake punch to be installed vertically from below. The upper tool is lifted into the clamp, positioned against the locating surface, and secured using the mechanical quick-clamping handle.
When the punch needs to be replaced, the operator releases the clamp and removes the tool downward. This vertical installation method avoids sliding each punch horizontally from the end of the press brake.
Compared with side-loading systems, vertical tool loading can make segmented tooling arrangements faster to assemble, modify, and remove—particularly when only one segment in the middle of the tooling setup needs to be replaced.
One-Handed Tool Change
The KJ-6-Q is engineered to make compatible upper tool changes possible with one hand. Its quick-release mechanism enables the operator to unlock the clamp, support the punch, and remove it vertically without completing a separate horizontal extraction process.
This feature can reduce repetitive handling and shorten the time required to configure segmented punches. It is especially valuable in sheet metal workshops that process small batches, produce varied parts, or frequently change bending profiles during the working day.
For safe operation, the punch profile and retention interface must be compatible with the clamp. The weight and length of each tool segment must also remain suitable for controlled one-handed handling.
Mechanical Clamping Operation
The KJ-6-Q uses a manual mechanical clamping mechanism and does not require hydraulic pressure, compressed air, or an electrical control unit. Moving the lever activates the locking or releasing action, providing a straightforward solution for press brake upper tool installation.
The mechanical structure is easy to operate and maintain, making it suitable for both new press brakes and machines being upgraded from conventional screw-type clamps.
Efficiency Benefits
Conventional side-loading clamps may require tooling segments to be inserted sequentially from the end of the press brake. Replacing a punch located in the middle of the tooling arrangement can therefore involve removing several adjacent segments.
The vertical-loading KJ-6-Q enables individual compatible segments to be installed or removed directly at the required position. This can provide several operational benefits:
- Faster setup of segmented upper tooling
- Easier replacement of an individual punch segment
- Less horizontal movement of heavy tooling
- Reduced machine setup and changeover time
- More flexible tooling arrangements
- Improved productivity for small-batch production
- More convenient operation where side access is restricted
Precision and Manufacturing Quality
Reliable tool alignment is essential for consistent bending angles and finished-part accuracy. The critical mounting, clamping, and locating surfaces of the KJ-6-Q are precision-machined to support repeatable punch positioning.
Key dimensional tolerances are controlled within ±0.02 mm. Parallelism and perpendicularity are maintained within 0.02 mm, helping the upper punch remain properly aligned with the press brake ram and lower die.
The primary 45# carbon steel construction provides the rigidity and mechanical strength required for regular press brake operation and repeated tool changes.

Tool Compatibility and Safety
Vertical loading and one-handed tool changing require a compatible upper punch tang and retention interface. Not every press brake punch can be safely inserted or removed vertically.
Before ordering, customers should provide the press brake ram dimensions, mounting-hole positions, upper punch tang profile, safety groove or retention details, and intended tool segment dimensions. Heavy or oversized tooling should always be handled using appropriate lifting assistance rather than changed with one hand.
Customization and Technical Support
WYS Machinery can evaluate the customer’s press brake ram, upper tooling profile, mounting interface, and tool-loading requirements. Customized mounting dimensions, working heights, clamp configurations, and compatible tooling interfaces can be provided according to the machine and production application.
Customers can send machine drawings, upper punch profiles, existing clamp dimensions, or clear installation photographs. We can then recommend or design a suitable press brake quick-clamping solution.
