Description

The KJ-9-S Double-Sided Rotary-Handle Press Brake Quick Clamp is designed for reliable upper tool clamping and flexible tooling arrangements on CNC and conventional press brakes.

It provides clamping interfaces on both the front and rear sides, allowing compatible upper punches to be installed in either direction. Different punch profiles or tooling combinations can therefore be prepared according to the bending process, machine layout, and production requirements.

The defining feature of the KJ-9-S is its rotary-handle operating mechanism. Instead of using a conventional press-down lever action, the operator rotates the handle around its pivot to activate the mechanical locking or releasing movement. This gives the KJ-9-S a clearly differentiated operating method while retaining the simplicity of a fully mechanical quick clamp.

Compatible upper punches must be inserted horizontally from the side of the clamping line. Once the tool reaches the correct position, the rotary handle is moved through its locking stroke to secure the punch. Rotating the handle in the release direction opens the clamp for tool removal or replacement.

The upper section of the KJ-9-S does not have a conventional mounting groove. Instead, the press brake ram clamping plate grips the front mounting plate directly to secure the complete quick clamp to the machine.

With a 120 mm working height, 150 mm clamp width, 45# carbon steel construction, and precision-machined mounting surfaces, the KJ-9-S provides a practical double-sided press brake tooling clamp for production environments requiring mechanical operation and side-loaded upper tooling.

Rotary-Handle Clamping Mechanism

The KJ-9-S uses a rotary lever to operate its internal mechanical clamping structure. The operator rotates the handle through the required angle to lock or release the upper punch.

This differs from quick clamps that rely primarily on a downward pressing action. The rotational movement provides a distinct and easily identifiable operating method while maintaining straightforward manual control.

Because the mechanism is fully mechanical, no hydraulic power unit, compressed-air supply, electrical controls, or additional power circuit is required.

Double-Sided Upper Tool Clamping

Both the front and rear sides of the KJ-9-S can be used to hold compatible press brake upper punches. Tooling can be arranged in different directions according to the required bending process.

This double-sided configuration gives sheet metal manufacturers greater flexibility when planning punch arrangements for different products, bend profiles, or production stages. Where permitted by the press brake layout and operating process, different tooling sets can remain prepared on the same machine to reduce repeated complete tool changeovers.

Horizontal Side-Loading Design

The KJ-9-S is designed exclusively for horizontal tool loading. Compatible upper punches are inserted from the end of the clamping line and moved sideways into the required position.

After positioning, the operator rotates the handle to secure the punch. To remove the tool, the handle is rotated to the release position and the punch is withdrawn horizontally from the side.

This model does not support upward insertion or downward removal of the upper punch. Adequate side clearance must therefore be available around the press brake for safe tooling installation.

Direct Ram Clamping Plate Mounting

The KJ-9-S does not use a conventional clamping groove at the top of the holder. Its upper mounting plate is positioned against the press brake ram, while the machine’s pressure plate directly grips the front surface to secure the quick clamp.

This installation method requires the ram clamping plate, gripping dimensions, mounting-hole positions, and available contact area to match the KJ-9-S interface. The machine connection should therefore be verified using drawings or accurate measurements before production.

Flexible Tooling Arrangements

The double-sided clamping structure makes it possible to configure compatible punches on the front and rear faces. Depending on the press brake and production process, this arrangement can help:

  • Prepare different punch profiles on one machine
  • Accommodate tooling in opposite directions
  • Reduce repeated removal of complete tool sets
  • Shorten press brake setup and changeover time
  • Improve production flexibility
  • Support high-mix and small-batch manufacturing
  • Reduce tool transportation and repeated alignment
  • Improve overall press brake utilization

Mechanical Quick Clamp Advantages

Compared with conventional screw-only clamps, the rotary-operated KJ-9-S provides faster locking and releasing without repeatedly tightening multiple clamping screws.

Its mechanical design offers several practical advantages:

  • No external power source required
  • Straightforward manual operation
  • Convenient inspection and maintenance
  • Lower system complexity than powered clamping
  • Suitable for both new machines and clamp upgrades
  • Reliable operation in general sheet metal workshops

Precision and Manufacturing Quality

Critical mounting, clamping, and positioning surfaces are precision-machined to support repeatable punch installation. Key dimensional tolerances are controlled within ±0.02 mm, while parallelism and perpendicularity are maintained within 0.02 mm.

This manufacturing accuracy helps maintain proper alignment between the press brake ram, upper punch, and lower die, contributing to consistent bending results along the working length.

The main components are manufactured from 45# carbon steel to provide the rigidity and mechanical strength required for repeated clamping and regular press brake operation.

Typical Applications

  • CNC and conventional hydraulic press brakes
  • Double-sided upper tool clamping systems
  • Front- and rear-mounted upper punch arrangements
  • Side-loading press brake tooling
  • Segmented and full-length press brake punches
  • Multi-process sheet metal bending
  • High-mix, low-volume manufacturing
  • Electrical cabinet and enclosure production
  • Metal doors, panels, and equipment housings
  • HVAC and ventilation component fabrication
  • Carbon steel and stainless steel bending
  • Press brake clamping system upgrades
  • Applications requiring rotary rather than press-down handle operation
  • Applications requiring a 120 mm clamp working height

Compatibility and Installation Requirements

Compatibility must be verified according to the press brake ram profile, ram pressure plate, mounting-hole positions, gripping dimensions, upper punch tang profile, tooling direction, and available side-loading clearance.

Customers should provide:

  • Press brake make and model
  • Ram cross-section drawing
  • Ram clamping plate dimensions
  • Mounting-hole positions
  • Existing clamp dimensions
  • Upper punch tang profile
  • Required tooling orientation
  • Available side-loading space

The double-sided configuration should also be evaluated against the machine layout, lower die position, workpiece movement, and safe operator access.

Customization and Technical Support

WYS Machinery can evaluate the customer’s press brake ram, clamping plate, upper punch profile, and production requirements before recommending an appropriate quick-clamping solution.

Working height, mounting dimensions, plate configuration, mounting holes, tooling interface, and handle structure can be customized according to the machine and application. Customers can provide machine drawings, existing clamp samples, tooling profiles, or installation photographs for technical evaluation.
