Description
The WYS LVD-type modular punch holder is designed as the reusable main body of an interchangeable press brake upper-tool system. Different replaceable inserts can be mounted onto the same holder, allowing customers to perform various bending operations without purchasing a complete punch for every workpiece profile.
The punch holder has an overall height of 250 mm and a total thickness of 45 mm, providing a maximum load capacity of 100 ton/m. Its increased height provides useful clearance for bending taller boxes, deep channels and complex sheet-metal components.
The holder and replaceable insert are connected through a secure screw-and-threaded-hole fastening system. When a different bending angle, tip radius or special profile is required, the operator can replace the insert while continuing to use the same punch holder. This modular construction reduces tooling costs, simplifies tool storage and makes production changes more flexible.

Modular Design for Lower Tooling Costs
With a conventional one-piece upper punch, every bending profile normally requires a separate complete tool. In this modular system, the punch holder is retained while only the replaceable insert is changed.
A single holder can therefore be combined with different insert angles, tip radii, tip widths and special forming profiles. This reduces the number of complete punches customers need to purchase and lowers the cost of expanding their bending capabilities.
If the working tip becomes worn or damaged, the customer may replace only the insert instead of the entire 250 mm-high punch assembly. This can significantly reduce replacement and maintenance costs over the service life of the tooling.
Secure Screw Connection
The replaceable insert is mounted to the punch holder using screws and accurately positioned threaded holes. This structure provides secure fastening and reliable support during bending while allowing the insert to be removed when another bending profile is needed.
The mating surfaces and mounting holes are precision-machined to maintain consistent insert positioning. Correct installation helps ensure stable force transmission, bending accuracy and repeatability across the full tool length.
250 mm Height and 100 Ton/m Load Capacity
The 250 mm overall height increases the distance between the press brake ram and the working tip. This provides additional clearance for taller flanges, deep boxes and other workpieces that may interfere with a shorter upper tool.
With a total thickness of 45 mm and a rated maximum load of 100 ton/m, this holder combines useful working height with strong structural support. The actual allowable bending force should always be checked according to the insert design, material thickness, bending length, lower-die opening and press brake capacity.
Full-Length and Segmented Tooling
The commonly used holder length is 835 mm. It can be manufactured as a continuous full-length tool or divided into shorter segments according to the customer’s production requirements.
Segmented punch holders provide greater flexibility for bending boxes, localized sections and workpieces of different lengths. Custom segmentation plans, individual segment lengths and complete tool sets are available upon request.
