Description

The WYS LVD-type V30 lower die is a precision-manufactured single-V press brake die designed for stable and repeatable sheet-metal bending. It has a 30 mm V-opening, commonly identified as V30, and a 78° groove angle.

The die has an overall height of 109 mm, including a 90 mm effective working height, and an overall width of 40 mm. Its robust structure provides a maximum load capacity of 115 ton/m, making it suitable for a wide range of medium-duty sheet-metal bending operations.

Compared with a conventional 90° V-die, the 78° groove provides additional angular clearance for overbending. When used with a suitable upper punch, this allows the press brake operator to compensate for material springback and achieve the required final bending angle more accurately.

Typical Applications

  • General sheet-metal air bending
  • Bending operations requiring a V30 lower die
  • Controlled overbending for springback compensation
  • Manufacturing cabinets, enclosures and electrical panels
  • Fabrication of machine covers, brackets and structural components
  • Production of channels and other formed sheet-metal profiles
  • Medium-duty bending operations requiring strong die support
  • CNC press brakes equipped with LVD-type lower-tool clamping systems

The appropriate plate thickness and minimum flange length should be determined according to the material type, tensile strength, bending angle, upper-punch radius and required inside bend radius.

V30 Opening for General Sheet-Metal Bending

The 30 mm V-opening provides a practical balance between forming force, inside bend radius and minimum flange requirements. It can be used for various sheet-metal bending applications when matched with an appropriate upper punch.

The final bend radius is influenced by the V-opening, material thickness, material grade and bending method. WYS can recommend the appropriate punch-and-die combination after reviewing the customer’s workpiece drawing and material information.

78° Groove for Springback Compensation

Many sheet-metal materials naturally spring back after the bending pressure is released. The 78° V-groove gives the workpiece additional space for controlled overbending, helping the operator compensate for this springback.

The 78° groove does not mean that every finished workpiece will have a 78° angle. The final angle depends on the press brake program, punch angle, penetration depth, material properties and actual springback. With the correct tooling combination and bending parameters, this die can also be used to produce common finished angles such as 90°.

109 mm Overall Height and 115 Ton/m Capacity

The die has a total height of 109 mm, comprising a 90 mm effective tool body and a 19 mm lower mounting section. Its 40 mm overall width provides a stable supporting structure while keeping the die relatively compact.

With a rated maximum load of 115 ton/m, this lower die is suitable for demanding bending applications within its specified capacity. The actual permissible bending force must also consider the tool length, segmented arrangement, material strength, plate thickness and press brake condition.

Product Details / Manufacturing Quality

The die is manufactured from 42CrMo alloy steel for high strength, rigidity and resistance to deformation. The V-groove, shoulders, mounting tang and reference surfaces are precision-machined to maintain accurate alignment and consistent bending performance.

Applicable working areas can be hardened to approximately HRC54 ± 2 to improve wear resistance and extend service life. Dimensional inspection helps control the V-opening, groove angle, overall height, straightness and mounting-interface accuracy.

Smooth and accurately machined die shoulders also help provide balanced support on both sides of the workpiece during bending, contributing to stable angles and consistent results along the bending length.
