Description

T-Type 88° Single-V Press Brake Lower Die with Wide Base

This T-type single-V press brake lower die is designed with a wide base and a vertical working section, providing a stable lower-tool structure for sheet metal bending applications.

The illustrated configuration has an 80 mm overall height, and the effective height is also 80 mm. The base width is 60 mm, with an 18 mm base thickness, while the rated load capacity is 100 ton/m.

The upper working section uses an 88° single-V groove. Unlike a fixed standard die, this T-type lower die can be manufactured with different V-openings, load-bearing section widths and groove radii according to the customer's material, sheet thickness, required bend radius and press brake configuration.

88° Single-V Groove for Precision Air Bending

The illustrated lower die uses an 88° V-groove, making it suitable for controlled air-bending applications where near-right-angle forming and springback allowance need to be considered.

The actual bending result depends on multiple factors, including:

  • Material grade
  • Sheet thickness
  • V-opening
  • Punch angle
  • Material springback
  • Required inside radius
  • Minimum flange size
  • Bending force

For this reason, WYS Machinery can manufacture the same T-type structure with different die angles and V-openings instead of limiting the customer to one standard cross-section.

Wide T-Shaped Base Structure

One of the key features of this lower die is its 60 mm wide T-shaped base.

The wide base provides a broad supporting platform beneath the vertical working section and is suitable for machines or die holders requiring a wider lower-tool mounting profile.

The base width, body geometry, mounting interface and positioning structure can all be customized according to the customer's press brake or existing tooling system.

Custom V-Opening, Load-Bearing Width and Groove Radius

In the drawing:

  • V = V-opening
  • S = Load-bearing section width
  • R = V-groove radius / edge radius

These dimensions can be selected from standard configurations or manufactured according to customer requirements.

This makes the T-type lower die suitable for a range of bending conditions rather than one fixed application.

Available Standard Specifications

The following configurations illustrate common V-opening, radius and load-bearing width combinations for this T-type lower die:

ModelV-Opening (mm)R (mm)Load-Bearing Width S (mm)Max. Capacity (t/m)
T660.414100
T880.514100
T10100.818100
T12122.7518100
T16162.7524100
T2020330100
T2525335100
TR662.7514100
TR882.7514100
TR10102.7518100

These dimensions are representative standard combinations. The V-opening, radius and load-bearing width can also be customized according to the customer's actual bending requirements.

T and TR Groove Configurations

The specification table includes both T-series and TR-series configurations.

The main difference is the groove radius specification. For example, the T6, T8 and T10 versions use relatively small radii, while the TR6, TR8 and TR10 configurations use a larger R2.75 groove radius.

This allows customers to select different groove geometries while retaining the same T-type lower-die structure.

Overall Height Equals Effective Height

For the illustrated configuration:

Overall Height: 80 mm
Effective Height: 80 mm

The effective height can also be customized.

This allows the lower die to match:

  • Existing upper tooling
  • Machine daylight
  • Existing lower-tool height
  • Required bending centerline
  • Special clamping systems
  • Customer-specific tooling combinations

Typical Applications

This T-type single-V lower die is suitable for a wide range of sheet metal bending applications, including:

  • General air bending
  • Near-90° sheet metal bending
  • Precision flange bending
  • Stainless steel sheet bending
  • Mild steel bending
  • Electrical cabinet manufacturing
  • Sheet metal enclosure production
  • Industrial machinery components
  • Customized press brake forming
  • Applications requiring a wide lower-die base
  • Applications requiring different V-openings within the same structural family

The appropriate V-opening and groove geometry should be selected according to the material grade, sheet thickness, required bend radius, flange dimensions and bending force.

Standard & Custom Options

The tooling shown on this page represents one T-type structural family, not a limitation of WYS Machinery's manufacturing capability.

WYS Machinery can customize:

  • V-opening
  • die angle
  • overall height
  • effective height
  • base width
  • base thickness
  • working-section width
  • load-bearing section width
  • groove radius
  • shoulder geometry
  • edge dimensions
  • tool length
  • segmented length
  • load capacity
  • bottom mounting structure
  • positioning geometry
  • clamping interface

In addition to T-type single-V dies, WYS Machinery can also manufacture standard single-V, double-V, multi-V and special lower dies according to customer requirements.

Compatible Press Brake Tooling Systems

WYS Machinery can manufacture lower dies for different press brake brands, tooling standards and clamping systems.

Available configurations include:

TRUMPF Type, WILA Type, LVD Type, Bystronic Type, Amada / Promecam Type, European Type and other customized press brake tooling systems.

The T-shaped structure shown in the drawing is only one available mounting design.

Customers can provide a press brake model, existing lower-die drawing, tooling cross-section, tool holder dimensions, sample or workpiece drawing for technical evaluation.

Custom V-Opening and Die Angle

The standard table includes V6, V8, V10, V12, V16, V20 and V25 configurations, but these sizes do not represent the full manufacturing range.

Different V-openings and angles can be manufactured according to:

  • Sheet thickness
  • Material grade
  • Required bending angle
  • Required inside radius
  • Minimum flange dimension
  • Material springback
  • Required forming clearance
  • Required bending force
  • Press brake configuration

This allows customers to obtain a lower die designed around the actual workpiece rather than adapting the workpiece to a fixed tool.

Custom Load-Bearing Width and Groove Radius

The load-bearing section width S and groove radius R are also customizable.

These dimensions can be adjusted together with the V-opening to optimize the lower-die geometry for different forming conditions.

For customers requiring a special radius, narrow or wide supporting section, or non-standard V-opening, WYS Machinery can manufacture the complete cross-section according to the required drawing.
