V4 / V7 85° Double-V Press Brake Lower Die

This double-V press brake lower die, also known as a 2V lower die, combines V4 and V7 openings within one tooling body.

Both V-grooves are manufactured at an 85° die angle and are positioned side by side on the same working surface, providing two small V-opening options within a compact lower die.

The illustrated configuration has an overall width of 50 mm, an overall height of 46 mm, and a rated load capacity of 80 ton/m.

The V4 and V7 openings are particularly suitable for precision sheet metal bending applications requiring relatively small V-die openings. Integrating both grooves into one lower tool provides greater flexibility when production involves different thin-sheet specifications, bend radii or forming requirements.

Unlike two-face double-V structures, where the V-grooves are distributed across separate working faces, this configuration places both openings on the same upper working plane. This arrangement is practical when the two V-openings are relatively small and sufficient shoulder material and groove spacing can be maintained within the die width.

Same-Surface Double-V Configuration

The V4 and V7 grooves are arranged side by side on the same working surface.

This type of double-V layout is particularly practical when:

  • Both V-openings are relatively small
  • Adequate shoulder material can be maintained between the grooves
  • Sufficient groove spacing is available
  • A compact tooling body is required
  • Two related V-opening sizes are frequently used in production

Compared with a two-face double-V structure, no repositioning to another working face is required to accommodate the two grooves within the die cross-section.

The actual tooling layout should always be determined according to the V-opening combination, die width, required load capacity and supporting material around each groove.

V4 and V7 Working Openings

The V4 opening provides a very small die opening for precision thin-sheet bending applications where a small forming width and relatively small bend radius are required.

The V7 opening provides additional forming clearance while remaining within the small-opening range.

Having both V4 and V7 within one lower die can provide practical flexibility when production includes different:
