$300.00$310.00

A custom single-V spring-loaded press brake hemming die designed for acute pre-bending and final flattening of approximately 2.0 mm sheet metal. The tooling shown features a 28° V16 opening, a single-V lower die mounting structure, an overall tooling height of approximately 140 mm, and a lower die width of approximately 70 mm. Maximum rated load capacity is 100 ton/m. Unlike the wider flat-base hemming die configuration, this version uses a single-V lower die interface, allowing it to fit press brakes or die holders designed around this type of lower tooling installation. The acute angle, V-opening, overall height, lower die width, spring configuration and mounting interface can all be customized according to the customer's workpiece and press brake system.

Description

28° V16 Single-V Spring-Loaded Hemming Die for 2 mm Sheet Metal

This spring-loaded hemming die is designed for sheet metal components that require an acute pre-bend followed by a second-stage flattening or hemming operation.

The illustrated tooling combines a 28° V16 acute bending opening with a spring-supported movable section and a single-V lower die mounting structure.

During the first press brake operation, the sheet metal edge is formed to an acute angle using the V16 opening.

For the second operation, the pre-bent workpiece is repositioned into the flattening area. As the press brake ram moves downward, the movable section compresses against the spring system while the machine provides the forming force required to flatten the folded edge.

After the ram retracts, the internal springs return the movable section to its original position.

This configuration provides the same two-stage hemming function as other spring-loaded hemming dies while using a different lower-die installation geometry to suit specific press brake tables or die holders.

Two-Stage Hemming Process

First Operation – 28° Acute Pre-Bending

The first forming stage uses the 28° V16 opening to create the acute preliminary bend.

This establishes the required intermediate geometry before the final flattening operation.

Second Operation – Spring-Assisted Flattening

The pre-bent flange is then repositioned into the flattening section of the tooling.

During the second stroke, the press brake applies the required forming force while the movable tooling section travels against the internal spring system.

The folded edge is progressively compressed until the required hem geometry is achieved.

Automatic Spring Return

When the press brake ram retracts, the internal spring system pushes the movable section back to its initial position.

The tooling is then ready for the next cycle.

Key Features

28° Acute Bending Geometry

The tooling uses a 28° acute angle for the initial pre-bending operation.

V16 Opening

The illustrated configuration features a 16 mm V-opening, typically matched to approximately 2.0 mm sheet metal for this application.

Designed for 2 mm Sheet Metal

The tooling shown is designed for approximately 2.0 mm sheet thickness, subject to material properties, bend length and required hem geometry.

Spring-Loaded Moving Structure

Internal springs support the moving die section and automatically return it after the flattening cycle.

Single-V Lower Die Structure

The lower tooling uses a single-V mounting profile, distinguishing it from wider flat-base lower dies.

70 mm Lower Die Width

The illustrated lower die is approximately 70 mm wide.

100 ton/m Rated Load

Maximum rated tooling load:

100 ton/m

No Pneumatic System Required

The tooling operates mechanically and does not require compressed air or pneumatic cylinders.

Working Principle

The spring-loaded hemming die completes the hemming process in two separate press brake strokes.

First, the workpiece is bent to an acute angle using the 28° V16 opening.

The pre-bent flange is then repositioned for flattening.

During the second stroke, the press brake ram provides the main forming force while the moving section of the die compresses against the internal spring system.

The folded edge is flattened to the required final condition.

When the ram retracts, the springs restore the movable tooling section to its original working position.

This structure combines acute bending, flattening and automatic mechanical reset in one hemming die assembly.

Single-V Lower Die Mounting Structure

The lower die shown on this page uses a single-V, or 1V, mounting structure.

Compared with a wider flat-base lower die, the single-V design uses a more defined lower mounting profile and can be adapted to press brakes or die holders designed for this type of tooling interface.

This lower die structure does not change the basic hemming principle, but it changes how the tooling is supported and installed on the press brake.

The mounting profile can be redesigned according to the customer's machine, die holder, lower table or existing tooling system.

Advantages of the Single-V Spring-Loaded Hemming Die

Different Lower Die Installation Option

The single-V lower die provides an alternative mounting solution for press brakes using this type of lower tooling interface.

Integrated Two-Stage Hemming

Acute bending and final flattening are combined in one tooling assembly.

Automatic Mechanical Reset

The internal spring system returns the movable section after each cycle.

No External Air Supply

No pneumatic cylinder, compressed-air line or external pneumatic control system is required.

Suitable for Repetitive Production

The automatic spring-return mechanism improves convenience during repeated hemming operations.

Flexible Mounting Customization

The lower die structure can be modified according to different press brake tables, die holders and installation methods.
