Description
V40 45° Stepped-Base Single-V Press Brake Lower Die
This V40 45° press brake lower die combines a 40 mm V-opening with an acute 45° single-V groove and a stepped lower mounting structure. It is designed for sheet metal bending applications requiring an acute lower-die angle together with increased forming clearance compared with smaller V-opening dies.
The illustrated configuration features:
V-Opening: V40 / 40 mm
Die Angle: 45°
Overall Height: 80 mm
Main Body Width: 75 mm
Bottom Base Width: 60 mm
Stepped Section Height: 20 mm
Shoulder Radius: R4
V-Bottom Radius: R4
Rated Load Capacity: 100 ton/m
The 75 mm main body transitions to a 60 mm bottom mounting base, creating a stepped mounting profile rather than the narrow shank used by plug-in lower dies.
The dimensions shown represent one available configuration. WYS Machinery can manufacture different V-openings, die angles, heights, widths, groove radii, base dimensions, lengths and mounting structures according to customer requirements.
45° Groove for Acute-Angle Bending
The 45° V-groove provides substantially more angular clearance than conventional 85°, 88° or 90° lower dies.
This geometry can be used for acute-angle air bending, pre-bending and multi-stage forming, particularly when the workpiece must first be formed to an acute angle before a subsequent forming operation.
The final bend result depends on the complete tooling combination and forming conditions, including material grade, sheet thickness, punch geometry, V-opening, required radius, flange dimensions and material springback.
V40 Opening for Increased Forming Clearance
The 40 mm V-opening provides more forming clearance than smaller V-opening lower dies such as V32 while maintaining a relatively compact lower-tool profile.
This configuration can be selected when the bending process requires a wider die opening, greater workpiece clearance or a larger resulting bend radius.
The appropriate V-opening should always be determined according to the actual workpiece and bending process rather than V-opening alone.
Stepped-Base Mounting Structure
A key structural feature of this lower die is its stepped-base profile.
The illustrated dimensions are:
Main Body Width: 75 mm
Bottom Base Width: 60 mm
Step Height: 20 mm
This construction is different from a conventional plug-in lower die, where a relatively narrow shank is inserted into the lower-die holder.
The stepped-base configuration provides a wider supporting and mounting geometry. The base width, step height, body width and complete mounting cross-section can be modified to match the customer's press brake or existing lower-tool holder.
R4 Shoulder and V-Bottom Radii
The illustrated V40 profile uses:
Shoulder Radius: R4
V-Bottom Radius: R4
These radii are part of the working groove geometry and can also be customized according to the required V-opening, sheet thickness, material and forming conditions.
