Description
V8 / V12 85° Double-V Press Brake Lower Die
This double-V press brake lower die, also referred to as a 2V lower die, integrates V8 and V12 openings into one tooling body.
Both V-grooves are manufactured at an 85° die angle and are positioned side by side on the same working surface.
The illustrated configuration has an overall height of 46 mm, an overall width of 50 mm, and a rated load capacity of 80 ton/m.
The V8 and V12 openings provide two different forming options within one lower die. The V8 groove offers a smaller V-opening for applications requiring a relatively smaller forming width and natural inside bend radius, while the V12 groove provides additional forming clearance for different sheet thicknesses and bending requirements.
Because both V-openings are relatively compact, they can be efficiently arranged on the same upper working surface while maintaining suitable groove spacing and sufficient supporting material around each working area.
The illustrated version uses a plug-in mounting system, providing a practical interface with the corresponding lower die holder or press brake table system.
The V8 / V12 configuration shown here is one available design rather than a fixed manufacturing limitation. V-opening combinations, die angles, overall height, width, load capacity, tooling length, segmentation and mounting structures can all be customized according to customer requirements.

Same-Surface Double-V Configuration
The V8 and V12 grooves are positioned side by side on the same working surface.
This configuration is practical when:
- The two V-openings are relatively compact
- Sufficient shoulder material can be maintained
- Adequate spacing is available between the grooves
- A compact lower die body is preferred
- Two commonly used V-opening sizes are required within one tool
Compared with a two-face double-V structure, both working grooves remain on the same upper plane.
For much larger V-openings or combinations with a substantial difference in groove size, WYS Machinery can also manufacture two-face double-V dies with the V-openings distributed across separate working faces.
V8 and V12 Working Openings
The V8 opening provides a smaller forming width for sheet metal bending applications requiring a relatively small V-die opening.
The V12 opening provides more forming clearance and can be selected when a larger V-opening is appropriate for the sheet thickness, required inside radius or bending process.
Integrating the two grooves into one lower die provides flexibility for production involving different:
- Sheet thicknesses
- Material grades
- Bend radii
- Workpiece geometries
- Production batches
The final V-opening should always be selected according to the actual workpiece and bending conditions.
Typical Applications
This V8 / V12 double-V lower die is suitable for:
- General sheet metal bending
- Precision sheet metal fabrication
- Thin and medium sheet bending
- Electrical enclosure production
- Control cabinet manufacturing
- Machinery covers and housings
- Precision brackets
- Stainless steel sheet bending
- Carbon steel sheet bending
- Mixed-production bending
- Applications requiring two compact V-opening sizes
Why Use Two V-Grooves on the Same Working Surface?
When two V-openings are relatively close in size, both grooves can often be positioned side by side without requiring a multi-face tooling structure.
This arrangement provides:
- Two V-opening choices within one die body
- Efficient use of the upper working surface
- Compact overall tooling dimensions
- Reduced need for separate single-V lower dies
- Practical switching between different bending requirements
When V-openings become significantly larger or require more shoulder space, a two-face structure may provide a more suitable tooling solution.
Plug-In Lower Die Mounting System
The illustrated die uses a plug-in mounting system.
The bottom profile engages with the corresponding lower die holder or press brake table interface to provide accurate positioning and support during bending.
The plug-in structure shown here is one reference configuration only.
WYS Machinery can customize:
- Bottom mounting profile
- Plug-in dimensions
- Positioning geometry
- Overall die cross-section
- Tool length
- Segmentation
- Centered or offset mounting arrangement
according to the customer's existing press brake and tooling system.
Custom Double-V Press Brake Dies
WYS Machinery manufactures both standard and customized double-V press brake lower dies.
The V8 / V12 die shown on this page represents one available production configuration rather than a fixed product limitation.
Customers can customize:
V-opening combinations, V-groove angles, overall height, overall width, groove spacing, shoulder geometry, load capacity, tool length, segmented length, bottom mounting profile and positioning structure.
For non-standard bending applications, customers can provide the workpiece drawing, material specification, sheet thickness, required bend angle, tooling dimensions or existing die sample.
Our engineering team can evaluate the application and recommend a suitable lower die configuration.
