Description

V8 30° Single-V Press Brake Lower Die for Very Acute-Angle Bending

This V8 30° press brake lower die is designed with a single-V structure for sheet metal forming applications requiring a very acute bending angle.

The illustrated configuration features an 8 mm V-opening, 30° die angle, 90 mm overall height, 75 mm effective height, 25 mm overall width and 16 mm load-bearing body width, with a rated load capacity of 40 ton/m.

Its combination of a small V8 opening and narrow 30° V-groove makes this lower die suitable for very acute-angle air bending, pre-bending and multi-stage forming operations. It can be used where a narrower forming angle is required before subsequent bending, hemming or other forming processes.

30° V-Groove for Very Acute-Angle Forming

The 30° V-groove provides additional angular clearance compared with conventional 60°, 85°, 88° and 90° lower dies.

This geometry is suitable for applications such as:

  • Very acute-angle sheet metal bending
  • Acute-angle air bending
  • Pre-bending before subsequent forming
  • Multi-stage bending processes
  • Precision narrow-flange forming
  • Forming applications requiring springback compensation
  • Custom sheet metal components with acute-angle profiles

The final V-opening and die angle should be selected according to the material grade, sheet thickness, required bend geometry, inside radius and forming process.

Compact V8 Single-V Geometry

The illustrated lower die uses an 8 mm V-opening combined with a compact load-bearing section.

Its main dimensions are:

  • V-opening: 8 mm / V8
  • Die angle: 30°
  • Overall height: 90 mm
  • Effective height: 75 mm
  • Overall width: 25 mm
  • Load-bearing body width: 16 mm
  • Bottom mounting width: 13.5 mm
  • Approx. shoulder radius: R1
  • Load capacity: 40 ton/m

This compact V8 geometry is particularly suitable for applications where a relatively small V-opening and sharp forming angle are required.

Custom Height, Angle and Edge Geometry

The dimensions shown represent one available configuration rather than the limits of our manufacturing capability.

The effective height, overall height, V-opening, die angle, shoulder radius, body width and surrounding edge dimensions can all be modified according to the customer's bending requirements.

This allows the lower die geometry to be matched with the upper punch, workpiece profile and press brake configuration rather than requiring the customer to adapt the application to a fixed tooling specification.

The bottom mounting interface, positioning geometry, effective height and complete die cross-section can be manufactured according to the customer's existing tooling system or press brake.

Customers can provide a:

  • Press brake model
  • Existing lower die drawing
  • Tooling cross-section
  • Tooling sample
  • Workpiece drawing

Our engineering team can then evaluate the application and recommend a suitable lower die configuration.

Custom Press Brake Tooling Design Service

For applications where the required lower die specification is uncertain, customers can provide their workpiece drawing, sheet thickness, material grade, required bend angle and press brake information.

WYS Machinery can evaluate the forming requirement and recommend an appropriate combination of:

V-opening + die angle + height + radius + body geometry + mounting interface.

This is particularly useful for acute-angle applications where the correct lower die geometry must be coordinated with the punch profile and the required forming sequence.
