Description
This WILA Type 86° gooseneck punch is designed for bending sheet metal components that require additional clearance around previously formed flanges or vertical walls. Its recessed body profile helps reduce tool interference during secondary and multi-stage bending operations.
The 163 mm working height provides useful reach for deep components, while the 86° working angle is suitable for common air-bending applications. An R1 mm punch-tip radius supports accurate bend-line positioning and consistent forming results.
The punch uses a top load-bearing structure and has a maximum rated capacity of 65 ton/m. Manufactured from 42CrMo alloy steel and hardened to HRC54±2, it provides the strength, dimensional stability and wear resistance required for repeatable industrial production.

Typical Applications
This WILA Type gooseneck punch is suitable for:
- Secondary bending near previously formed flanges
- Return-flange and reverse-flange bending
- Box and tray manufacturing
- Electrical cabinets and control enclosures
- Metal doors and equipment housings
- Components with upright or inward-facing edges
- Machinery guards and protective covers
- HVAC panels and ventilation components
- Multi-stage sheet metal bending
- Mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium fabrication
- CNC hydraulic and servo-electric press brakes
The gooseneck profile provides clearance around the workpiece during bending. Actual usable clearance depends on the flange height, workpiece angle, bending position and forming sequence. The workpiece drawing should therefore be checked before the final tooling profile is confirmed.
The permissible sheet thickness and bending length depend on the material strength, lower-die V-opening, forming method and press brake capacity. The required bending force must remain within the rated capacities of the punch, lower die and machine.
Product Details & Manufacturing Quality
The punch is manufactured from selected 42CrMo alloy steel, providing a reliable balance of mechanical strength, toughness and fatigue resistance. Its working area is hardened to HRC54±2 to improve resistance to wear and deformation during repeated bending cycles.
Precision machining maintains the accuracy of the 86° working angle, R1 mm tip radius and gooseneck profile throughout the tool length. Consistent geometry helps maintain accurate bend-line positioning and stable forming results in batch production.
Because a gooseneck profile has a recessed body, its load-bearing capacity is influenced by the narrowest section of the tool. The stated maximum load of 65 ton/m must not be exceeded, and the actual forming force should be calculated according to the sheet material, thickness, bend length and lower-die opening.
The punch can be supplied in a continuous length for long straight components or as a segmented set for boxes, trays, doors and workpieces with interfering side flanges.
