Description
13-Groove Mixed-Angle Multi-V Press Brake Lower Die
This multi-V press brake lower die integrates 13 physical V-grooves into a 90 × 90 mm tooling body, providing seven different V-opening sizes within one lower die.
The illustrated configuration includes:
V6 · V8 · V12 · V16 · V20 · V24 · V32
with several V-opening sizes repeated at different working positions.
A defining feature of this model is its mixed-angle groove configuration. The V16 grooves use a 30° angle, while the remaining V6, V8, V12, V20, V24 and V32 grooves use 85° geometry.
This allows one multi-V lower die to combine conventional bending grooves with acute-angle forming grooves rather than restricting every working face to the same die angle.
With a rated load capacity of 100 ton/m, the tooling provides a broad range of bending options within one lower die body.
The 90 × 90 mm external dimensions do not define one fixed multi-V configuration. Other dies with the same cross-section can use completely different groove quantities, V-opening sizes, positions and angles.
The configuration shown here is therefore one manufacturing example rather than a fixed catalog limitation.

13-Groove Multi-V Structure
The die incorporates 13 physical working grooves distributed around the 90 × 90 mm tooling body.
The groove distribution is:
- V6 × 1
- V8 × 3
- V12 × 2
- V16 × 3
- V20 × 2
- V24 × 1
- V32 × 1
This means:
13 physical V-grooves = 7 different V-opening sizes.
Repeated V-opening sizes can be positioned on different working locations according to the required tooling orientation and production process.
Mixed 30° and 85° Groove Configuration
The most important feature of this product is that not all V-grooves use the same angle.
The V16 grooves are manufactured at 30°, providing an acute-angle forming option.
The remaining grooves use 85° geometry, providing more conventional bending options.
This allows one multi-V lower die to combine:
85° general bending grooves
and
30° acute-angle grooves
within the same tooling body.
Depending on the workpiece and forming sequence, 30° grooves can be used for applications such as:
- Acute-angle bending
- Pre-bending
- Over-bending for springback compensation
- Multi-stage forming
- Hemming preparation
- Special sheet metal forming
The final punch and die combination should always be selected according to the actual material, required bend angle and forming process.
V6 to V32 Working Range
The seven different V-opening sizes provide different forming ranges.
V6 and V8
Smaller openings suitable for relatively narrow forming widths and applications requiring smaller natural inside bend radii.
V12
Provides additional forming clearance while remaining within a relatively compact V-opening range.
V16 – 30°
The V16 grooves combine a medium V-opening with 30° acute-angle geometry, distinguishing them from the conventional 85° grooves in the same die.
V20 and V24
Provide larger forming widths and additional workpiece clearance.
V32
The largest opening in this configuration provides greater forming clearance and supports applications requiring larger natural inside bend radii.
The appropriate V-opening and groove angle should always be selected according to sheet thickness, material properties, required bend geometry and bending method.
Same 90 × 90 mm Body, Different Groove Sizes, Positions and Angles
A major advantage of custom multi-V tooling is that the external die dimensions do not define the working groove configuration.
Different 90 × 90 mm multi-V dies can have different:
- Total groove counts
- V-opening sizes
- Repeated groove quantities
- Groove positions
- Groove angles
- Working-face arrangements
- Shoulder geometries
- V-bottom geometries
This product demonstrates another level of customization because different angles are integrated within the same multi-V die.
A customer can therefore specify not only which V-opening sizes are required, but also which groove angles and working positions are needed.
Advantages of a Mixed-Angle Multi-V Die
Conventional and Acute-Angle Forming in One Tool
The 85° grooves support general bending applications, while the 30° V16 grooves provide acute-angle forming capability.
Multiple V-Opening Sizes
Seven different V-opening sizes provide broad production flexibility.
Reduced Separate Tooling
Multiple V-opening sizes and angles can be integrated into one die rather than requiring separate lower tooling for every bending condition.
Flexible Production
The configuration is suitable for workshops handling different workpieces, sheet thicknesses and forming sequences.
Custom Angle Combination
The angle of each V-groove can be designed according to actual bending requirements rather than forcing every groove to use one standard angle.
Typical Applications
This 90 × 90 mm mixed-angle multi-V lower die is suitable for:
- General sheet metal bending
- Acute-angle bending
- Pre-bending
- Multi-stage forming
- Springback compensation
- Mixed-thickness production
- Carbon steel bending
- Stainless steel bending
- Electrical enclosure manufacturing
- Industrial cabinet production
- Machinery and equipment fabrication
- High-mix manufacturing
- Production requiring multiple V-opening sizes and groove angles
Custom Multi-V Press Brake Dies
WYS Machinery manufactures custom multi-V press brake lower dies according to actual production requirements.
The illustrated 90 × 90 mm, 13-groove V6 / V8 / V12 / V16 / V20 / V24 / V32 mixed-angle configuration is one manufacturing example only.
Customers can customize:
number of physical V-grooves, V-opening sizes, repeated groove quantities, groove positions, individual groove angles, V-bottom geometry, shoulder geometry, working-face arrangement, overall height, overall width, load capacity, tooling length, segmentation and mounting profile.
This means different V-grooves within one multi-V die can use different angles when the bending process requires it.
Compatible Press Brake Tooling Systems
WYS Machinery can manufacture multi-V lower dies for different press brake tooling standards and machine configurations.
Available configurations include:
AMADA / Promecam Type, TRUMPF Type, WILA Type, LVD Type, Bystronic Type, European Type and other customized press brake tooling systems.
The 90 × 90 mm multi-V profile shown here represents one reference design only.
The V-opening quantity, opening size, groove angle, groove position, overall dimensions and mounting interface can all be adapted according to the customer's existing press brake.
WYS's existing indexed 30° lower-die page already establishes acute-angle bending, pre-bending and multi-stage forming as part of the site's lower-tooling semantics, so this product can extend that existing 30° entity from Single-V into the Multi-V family rather than creating an unrelated keyword theme.
Standard & Custom Lower Die Solutions
WYS Machinery manufactures a broad range of press brake lower tooling, including:
Single-V Dies · Double-V Dies · Multi-V Dies · Mixed-Angle Multi-V Dies · Acute-Angle Dies · Wide-Opening Dies · High-Tonnage Dies · Special Lower Dies · Custom Press Brake Tooling
The lower die can be selected or engineered according to actual bending requirements rather than being restricted to a fixed catalog profile.
