Full Product Description

8-Groove Mixed-Angle Multi-V Press Brake Lower Die

This multi-V press brake lower die integrates eight independent working V-grooves into a 160 × 160 mm tooling body.

The illustrated configuration includes:

V8 · V12 · V16 · V24 · V48 · V64 · V80 · V120

Each physical groove provides a different V-opening size, giving the tool a broad working range from small openings to very large forming widths.

A defining feature of this configuration is its mixed-angle groove design.

The drawing shows:

  • V12 at 60°
  • V16 at 60°
  • V48 at 85° with R5 bottom radius
  • V64 at 85° with R5 bottom radius
  • V80 at 80° with R5 bottom radius
  • V120 at 80° with R10 bottom radius

This allows multiple bending geometries to be integrated into one lower tooling body rather than requiring every working groove to use the same die angle.

The illustrated die has an overall cross-section of 160 × 160 mm and a rated load capacity of 100 ton/m.

The V8 and V24 openings shown in this configuration provide additional working positions, while their exact groove angles and bottom profiles can be manufactured according to the required design.

The configuration shown here represents one available tooling example rather than a fixed catalog limitation. WYS Machinery can customize the V-opening size, groove angle, groove position, V-bottom radius, shoulder geometry, overall dimensions and mounting structure according to the customer's workpiece and press brake requirements.

8-Groove Multi-V Structure

The lower die integrates:

V8 → V12 → V16 → V24 → V48 → V64 → V80 → V120

within one tooling body.

In this configuration:

8 physical grooves = 8 different V-opening sizes.

Unlike high-groove-count designs that repeat certain V-opening sizes, every groove in this configuration provides a different working width.

This makes the tool suitable for production requiring a broad range of forming clearances.

Mixed 60°, 80° and 85° Groove Geometry

The most important structural feature of this product is that different working grooves use different angles.

60° Grooves

The V12 and V16 openings use 60° geometry.

These grooves can be selected for bending applications requiring a sharper die angle than conventional 85° tooling.

85° Grooves

The V48 and V64 openings use 85° geometry.

These provide conventional lower-die forming angles for general sheet metal bending.

80° Grooves

The V80 and V120 openings use 80° geometry.

These large V-openings provide greater forming clearance while maintaining a relatively acute lower-die angle.

This mixed-angle layout demonstrates that one multi-V die can be designed for several different bending processes rather than using one uniform angle on every working face.

Different V-Bottom Radii in One Tool

Another important feature of this product is the use of different bottom radii.

The drawing shows:

R5 on the V48, V64 and V80 grooves

and:

R10 on the V120 groove.

This demonstrates that V-bottom geometry can be adjusted according to the opening size and forming requirement.

Depending on the customer's process, WYS Machinery can customize:

  • V-bottom radius
  • Groove angle
  • Shoulder radius
  • Groove depth
  • V-opening width
  • Groove position

This gives each working face its own optimized geometry.

V8 to V120 Working Range

The tooling covers a very broad V-opening range.

V8 / V12 / V16 / V24

These smaller and medium V-openings provide forming options for applications requiring relatively narrow die openings and smaller natural inside bend radii.

V48 / V64

These openings provide increased clearance and broader general forming capability.

V80

The V80 opening provides a large forming width with 80° geometry and an R5 bottom radius.

V120

The V120 groove provides the largest opening in this configuration and uses an 80° angle with an R10 bottom radius.

The final V-opening should always be selected according to:

  • Sheet thickness
  • Material grade
  • Tensile strength
  • Required inside bend radius
  • Bend angle
  • Flange geometry
  • Required forming force
  • Bending method

Same 160 × 160 mm Body, Completely Different Multi-V Design

This product provides another clear example that external dimensions do not determine the internal groove configuration of a multi-V die.

Another 160 × 160 mm configuration already shown by WYS uses:

V24 / V54 / V64 / V100 / V120

with only five working grooves.

This product instead uses:

8 working grooves

covering:

V8 / V12 / V16 / V24 / V48 / V64 / V80 / V120

and combines three different groove-angle families.

Both products have the same external body dimensions, but their working range and intended production applications are different.

Advantages of This Mixed-Angle Multi-V Design

Multiple V-Opening Sizes

Eight different working openings provide a broad forming range.

Multiple Groove Angles

60°, 80° and 85° geometries can coexist within one die.

Different Bottom Radii

R5 and R10 groove-bottom geometries are integrated according to opening size.

Reduced Separate Tooling

Several V-opening and angle combinations can be incorporated into one lower die instead of requiring many separate tools.

Flexible Production

The tool is suitable for workshops handling different sheet thicknesses, bend radii and forming processes.

Fully Customizable Layout

The V-opening size, groove angle, groove position and bottom radius can all be engineered according to the customer's actual requirements.
