Description

8-Groove V8 / V16 / V24 / V30 / V40 / V48 / V64 / V80 Multi-V Press Brake Lower Die

This multi-V press brake lower die integrates eight independent working V-grooves into a 140 × 140 mm tooling body.

The illustrated configuration contains eight different V-opening sizes:

V8 · V16 · V24 · V30 · V40 · V48 · V64 · V80

Each physical groove provides a different working opening, giving the die a broad forming range without repeating the same V-opening size.

The illustrated tooling has an overall cross-section of 140 × 140 mm and a rated load capacity of 100 ton/m.

The smaller V8 and V16 openings provide relatively compact forming widths, while V24, V30, V40 and V48 cover intermediate bending ranges. The larger V64 and V80 openings provide substantially greater forming clearance for applications requiring larger natural inside bend radii and wider die openings.

The V80 working groove shown in the drawing uses an 85° die angle.

As with other custom multi-V tooling, the external 140 × 140 mm dimensions do not define one fixed groove configuration. Another die with the same external dimensions can use different V-opening sizes, groove quantities, positions, angles or groove-bottom geometry.

The configuration shown here is therefore one available manufacturing example rather than a fixed catalog limitation.

8-Groove Multi-V Structure

The defining feature of this tooling is its eight-groove multi-V configuration.

The die provides:

V8 → V16 → V24 → V30 → V40 → V48 → V64 → V80

within one lower tooling body.

In this configuration:

8 physical grooves = 8 different V-opening sizes.

This differs from high-groove-count multi-V dies where some V-opening sizes may be repeated at several working positions.

The appropriate V-opening can be selected according to the actual bending requirement.

V8 to V80 Working Range

The V-opening range covers several different forming ranges.

V8 and V16

These smaller V-openings provide relatively narrow forming widths and can be used for applications requiring smaller natural inside bend radii.

V24, V30 and V40

These intermediate openings provide progressively greater forming clearance and cover a broad range of general sheet metal bending applications.

V48 and V64

These larger V-openings extend the tooling range toward applications involving thicker material or larger natural bend radii.

V80

The V80 opening provides the largest forming clearance in this illustrated configuration and is shown with an 85° groove angle.

The correct V-opening should always be selected according to:

  • Sheet thickness
  • Material grade
  • Tensile strength
  • Required inside bend radius
  • Bend angle
  • Flange geometry
  • Available forming force
  • Bending method

V80 85° Working Groove

The drawing specifically identifies the V80 working groove as 85°.

The large V80 opening provides substantially more forming clearance than the smaller grooves in the same tooling body.

This allows one multi-V die to combine small and large forming ranges while maintaining a compact integrated tooling structure.

Other V-groove angles can also be designed according to the customer's workpiece and bending process.

Individual Groove Angles Can Be Customized

A multi-V lower die does not require every working groove to use the same angle.

Depending on the bending process, WYS Machinery can manufacture individual working grooves with different angles, including:

30° · 60° · 85° · 88° · other customized angles

This allows the same tooling body to be configured for different forming processes rather than being limited to one fixed angle system.

Same 140 × 140 mm Body, Different Groove Configuration

The external dimensions of a multi-V die do not determine its working-groove layout.

Different 140 × 140 mm multi-V lower dies can use completely different:

  • Groove counts
  • V-opening sizes
  • Groove positions
  • Groove angles
  • V-bottom radii
  • Shoulder geometry
  • Working-face arrangements

For example, one 140 × 140 mm configuration can provide 10 different V-openings ranging from V6 to V100, while this configuration provides 8 different V-openings ranging from V8 to V80.

Both use the same external body size, but they are designed for different production ranges.

This demonstrates why multi-V lower dies should be selected according to actual bending requirements rather than external dimensions alone.

Advantages of This 8-Groove Multi-V Design

Eight Different Working Openings

Every groove provides a different V-opening size.

Broad V-Opening Coverage

The V8-to-V80 range combines small, medium and large V-openings.

Reduced Separate Lower-Die Inventory

Several bending ranges can be integrated into one lower tooling body rather than requiring multiple separate single-V dies.

Flexible Mixed Production

Different working faces can be selected according to changing sheet thicknesses and bending specifications.

Custom Tooling Geometry

The groove size, position, angle, radius and complete tooling cross-section can all be designed around the customer's production requirements.

Typical Applications

This 140 × 140 mm multi-V lower die is suitable for:

  • General sheet metal bending
  • Mixed-thickness production
  • Thin, medium and thicker sheet fabrication
  • Carbon steel bending
  • Stainless steel bending
  • Machinery manufacturing
  • Structural sheet metal fabrication
  • Electrical enclosure manufacturing
  • Industrial cabinet production
  • High-mix manufacturing
  • Applications requiring several V-opening sizes
  • Production requiring both relatively small and large V-openings
  • Workshops seeking to reduce separate lower-die inventory
