Description
8-Groove V8 / V16 / V24 / V40 / V64 / V80 Multi-V Press Brake Lower Die
This multi-V press brake lower die integrates eight physical working V-grooves into a 120 × 120 mm tooling body, providing six different V-opening sizes within one lower die.
The illustrated configuration includes:
V8 · V16 · V24 · V40 · V64 · V80
with V24 and V40 repeated on different working positions.
The groove distribution is:
- V8 × 1
- V16 × 1
- V24 × 2
- V40 × 2
- V64 × 1
- V80 × 1
This provides a total of 8 physical V-grooves and 6 different V-opening sizes.
The illustrated die has an overall cross-section of 120 × 120 mm and a rated load capacity of 100 ton/m.
An important feature of this configuration is that the groove geometry is not limited to opening width alone. Different working grooves also use different bottom-radius geometries, including the illustrated R2, R4, R5 and R8 profiles. The V80 groove is shown with an 85° die angle.
This demonstrates the flexibility of multi-V tooling: V-opening size, groove position, die angle and V-bottom geometry can all be configured according to the required bending range.
The product shown here represents one available tooling design rather than a fixed catalog limitation.

8-Groove Multi-V Structure
The defining feature of this lower die is its 8-groove multi-V configuration.
Eight physical V-grooves are distributed around the tooling body, while six different opening sizes provide a broad forming range:
V8 → V16 → V24 → V40 → V64 → V80
The V24 and V40 openings are repeated at different working positions.
This means:
8 physical grooves ≠ 8 different V-opening sizes.
Instead:
8 physical grooves = 6 different V-opening sizes.
Repeated openings can be positioned on different faces when this provides a more practical working orientation or tooling layout.
V8 to V80 Working Range
This configuration provides one of the broader V-opening ranges in the Multi-V products shown so far.
V8 and V16
These smaller V-openings provide relatively narrow forming widths for applications requiring smaller natural inside bend radii.
V24 and V40
The intermediate openings provide additional forming clearance and broaden the range of general sheet metal bending applications.
Both V24 and V40 are repeated in this tooling configuration.
V64
The V64 opening provides substantially greater forming clearance and extends the tooling range toward thicker sheet applications.
V80
The V80 groove is the largest opening in this configuration. It is shown with an 85° groove angle and an illustrated R8 bottom radius.
The actual V-opening should always be selected according to sheet thickness, material grade, tensile strength, desired inside bend radius, flange geometry and forming method.
Customized V-Bottom Radius
A significant feature of this multi-V die is that different V-grooves can use different bottom radii.
The drawing illustrates several groove-bottom radii, including:
R2 · R4 · R5 · R8
This allows the lower die geometry to be adapted not only through the V-opening width but also through the groove-bottom shape.
Depending on the bending requirement, WYS Machinery can customize:
- V-opening width
- V-groove angle
- V-bottom radius
- Groove position
- Shoulder geometry
- Working-face arrangement
This is particularly useful when different workpieces require different forming clearances, natural bend radii or groove-bottom profiles.
Same Body Size Does Not Mean the Same Groove Design
The external dimensions of a multi-V lower die do not define one fixed tooling configuration.
Two 120 × 120 mm multi-V dies can have completely different:
- Groove counts
- V-opening sizes
- Repeated V-opening quantities
- Groove positions
- Groove angles
- V-bottom radii
- Shoulder geometry
- Working-face layouts
The 120 × 120 mm configuration shown on this page is therefore only one example.
A different 120 × 120 mm die can be designed with another combination of openings and angles according to the customer's sheet-thickness range and bending requirements.
Advantages of an 8-Groove Multi-V Die
Broad Forming Range
V-openings from V8 to V80 allow one lower tool to cover significantly different forming requirements.
Multiple Working Positions
Eight physical V-grooves provide multiple selectable working positions within one die body.
Reduced Separate Tooling
Several V-opening sizes can be integrated into one tool, reducing dependence on multiple individual single-V lower dies.
Customized Groove Geometry
Opening width, angle, position and bottom radius can be independently designed according to the bending process.
Flexible Mixed Production
The broad V-opening range is useful for workshops processing different materials, sheet thicknesses and workpiece types.
Typical Applications
This 120 × 120 mm multi-V lower die is suitable for:
- General sheet metal fabrication
- Mixed-thickness production
- Thin, medium and thicker sheet bending
- Carbon steel bending
- Stainless steel bending
- Machinery and equipment fabrication
- Structural sheet metal components
- Electrical enclosure manufacturing
- Industrial cabinet production
- High-mix production
- Applications requiring both small and large V-openings
- Production requiring different V-bottom radii
- Workshops seeking to reduce separate lower-die inventory
Custom Multi-V Press Brake Dies
WYS Machinery manufactures custom multi-V press brake lower dies according to actual bending requirements.
The illustrated 120 × 120 mm, 8-groove V8 / V16 / V24 / V40 / V64 / V80 configuration is one manufacturing example only.
Customers can customize:
number of physical V-grooves, V-opening sizes, repeated groove quantities, groove positions, individual groove angles, V-bottom radii, shoulder geometry, working-face arrangement, overall height, overall width, load capacity, tooling length, segmentation and mounting profile.
Customers can provide workpiece drawings, material specifications, sheet thickness ranges, required bend radii, bend angles, press brake model or existing tooling drawings. Our engineering team can then develop an appropriate lower-die configuration.
Compatible Press Brake Tooling Systems
WYS Machinery can manufacture multi-V lower dies for different press brake tooling standards and machine configurations.
Available configurations include:
AMADA / Promecam Type, TRUMPF Type, WILA Type, LVD Type, Bystronic Type, European Type and other customized press brake tooling systems.
The 120 × 120 mm profile shown here is only one reference configuration.
The V-opening size, groove quantity, position, angle, V-bottom radius, overall dimensions and mounting interface can all be adapted according to the customer's existing press brake.
WYS's currently indexed lower-die content already explicitly states that V-opening, die angle, shoulder radius, V-bottom radius, positioning structure and clamping interface can be customized, while the site also identifies single-V, double-V and multi-V dies as part of the lower-tooling range.
