Typical Applications

This 85° R1 high press brake upper punch with a 6 mm narrow tip is designed for applications where a standard 9 mm tip may be too wide for the required bending geometry.

Typical applications include:

  • Small sheet metal components
  • Precision sheet metal bending
  • Narrow flange bending
  • Small profile bending
  • Compact brackets and metal parts
  • Electrical and electronic enclosures
  • Small machinery components
  • Precision industrial components
  • Stainless steel sheet bending
  • Carbon steel and mild steel bending
  • Multi-step bending
  • Complex sheet metal forming

The 6 mm tip width provides a narrower working contact point than the 9 mm version. This allows the punch to access smaller or more restricted bending areas and can be advantageous when working with small components, narrow flanges, or compact profiles.

The 150 mm overall height maintains the extended reach of the previous high punch design, while the narrower tip provides greater flexibility for smaller workpieces.

Compared with the previous 85° R1 / 150 mm / 9 mm tip / 100 ton/m punch, this version reduces the tip width from 9 mm to 6 mm. The narrower tip improves accessibility for smaller bending geometries, while the load capacity is correspondingly reduced from 100 ton/m to 80 ton/m.

This tooling can be manufactured for applications involving major press brake brands and tooling systems, including Amada, TRUMPF, LVD, Bystronic, and WILA, subject to the specific machine and tooling interface.

Product Details & Manufacturing Quality

The punch is manufactured from 42CrMo alloy steel, providing high strength, toughness, wear resistance, and durability for repeated press brake bending operations.

The working section is heat treated to approximately HRC 54 ± 2, helping maintain dimensional accuracy and wear resistance during long-term production.

The main design feature is the 6 mm narrow tip width. Compared with the 9 mm tip configuration, the narrower tip provides a more compact working point and allows the punch to reach smaller bending areas.

This makes the tooling particularly useful when the workpiece contains small flanges, narrow bending sections, compact profiles, or restricted forming areas.

The tooling maintains the 150 mm overall height of the high-punch configuration, providing extended reach while offering a narrower working tip.

Because the tip width has been reduced from 9 mm to 6 mm, the rated load capacity is reduced to 80 ton/m. This provides a clear distinction between the two tooling configurations:

  • 9 mm tip → 100 ton/m for higher-load applications
  • 6 mm tip → 80 ton/m for smaller and more compact bending applications

Actual allowable bending force should always be determined according to material type, sheet thickness, bending length, die opening, bending method, and press brake specifications.

Standard & Custom Press Brake Tooling

We manufacture standard press brake punches and dies as well as customized bending tools for different machine and workpiece requirements.

The 6 mm narrow-tip configuration is particularly useful when customers need to bend smaller components but still require the 150 mm high tooling structure.

If you have a small or complex workpiece, you can send us your 2D/3D drawing, bending drawing, existing tooling drawing, or machine information.

Our engineering team can provide a free press brake tooling design service and recommend the appropriate punch and die combination.

Customization options include:

  • Overall tooling height
  • Total tooling width
  • Tip width
  • Tip radius
  • Punch angle
  • Tooling length
  • Load-bearing geometry
  • Clearance and relief areas
  • Gooseneck punches
  • Special-shaped punches
  • Machine-specific tooling dimensions
  • Customized upper and lower tooling sets

We can also evaluate tool accessibility, workpiece interference, bending sequence, flange clearance, and required bending force before production.

This allows us to provide both standard press brake tooling and custom tooling solutions for small, precision, or complex sheet metal components.
