Press Brake Hinge Forming Tool
This press brake hinge forming tool is designed for manufacturing rolled sheet metal hinge profiles directly from the workpiece.
During the forming process, the sheet edge is progressively shaped around the tool profile to create a cylindrical or partially closed hinge barrel. After forming, a hinge pin can be inserted through the rolled section so that the door, panel or enclosure can rotate around the pin.
This type of tooling is commonly used for electrical cabinets, control enclosures, sheet metal doors and industrial equipment panels, where an integrated sheet metal hinge is required.
Sheet Metal Hinge Forming Process
Unlike a conventional welded hinge, this process forms the hinge structure directly from the sheet metal edge.
The forming geometry controls the curvature and closing shape of the hinge barrel so that the finished profile can match the required pin diameter and assembly clearance.
The drawing shown illustrates one example with a sheet thickness of approximately 2 mm and formed radii around R9.2 and R11.2. These dimensions are application-specific and can be redesigned according to the required hinge diameter, material thickness and workpiece geometry.
