Description
This WILA American Style 86° gooseneck punch is designed for bending components that require substantial clearance around previously formed flanges or vertical walls. Its deep recessed profile and 152 mm working height make it suitable for boxes, channels, enclosures and complex multi-bend parts.
The 86° working angle provides springback allowance for common air-bending applications. Its R1 mm punch-tip radius supports accurate bend-line positioning and controlled forming of suitable sheet-metal materials.
The tool uses a 12.7 mm American Style upper tang, with the bending force transferred through its shoulders. This shoulder-loaded structure provides stable seating and reliable force transmission in compatible clamping systems.
Manufactured from 42CrMo alloy steel and hardened to HRC54±2, the punch offers dependable strength, dimensional stability and wear resistance. Its maximum rated load is 65 ton/m.

The 59 mm dimension shown in the drawing represents the maximum horizontal profile width. It should not be treated as the actual usable gooseneck clearance, which depends on the complete tool profile and workpiece geometry.
Typical Applications
This American Style deep gooseneck punch is suitable for:
- Bending near high, previously formed flanges
- Return-flange and reverse-flange bending
- Deep box and tray manufacturing
- Components with tall vertical side walls
- Electrical cabinets and control enclosures
- Metal doors and equipment housings
- Machinery guards and protective covers
- Deep channels and complex profiles
- Multi-stage bending with restricted tool access
- Mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium fabrication
- CNC hydraulic and servo-electric press brakes
The actual usable clearance depends on the flange height, workpiece angle, bend position and bending sequence. Customers should provide the component drawing so that the gooseneck profile and forming process can be checked before production.
The required bending force must remain within the rated capacities of the punch, lower die, clamping system and press brake.
Product Details & Manufacturing Quality
The punch is manufactured from selected 42CrMo alloy steel, providing a dependable combination of strength, toughness and fatigue resistance. Its working area is hardened to HRC54±2 to improve resistance to tip wear and deformation during repeated production.
Precision machining controls the 86° working angle, R1 mm tip, gooseneck geometry and shoulder-loaded mounting surfaces. Accurate geometry supports stable clamping, consistent punch-to-die alignment and repeatable bending results.
The deep gooseneck profile provides greater workpiece clearance but reduces the load-bearing cross-section compared with a straight or reinforced punch. The maximum load of 65 ton/m must therefore not be exceeded.
The tool can be supplied in continuous lengths for long straight bends or as a segmented set for boxes, trays and components with interfering side flanges.
